Samuel D and Eliza J McGalliard Pyatt

He married on December 21, 1870 (probably McDowell County, North Carolina) to Eliza J McGalliard. Eliza was born December 20, 1848 in North Carolina and died August 6, 1909. He is also buried in the Nebo Cemetery. Samuel's brother, Charles F Pyatt, married Mary McGilliard. Where Eliza and Mary sisters? I find a Mary Pyatt born at the right time buried beside Eliza in Nebo Cemetery. My guess is that this is Mary McGalliard Pyatt. Many McGalliard family members are buried in Nebo cemetery, McDowell County, North Carolina.

This abstract was taken from familysearch.org page 400C. On page 401A was the family of Samuel Pyott (age 58 born NC) and some of his children and grandchildren. I have not determined who this Samuel is. Could the writer of 'The Pyatt Family of Western North Carolina' have attached Samuel to the wrong family? Since I don't have John and Caroline on the 1860 or 1870 census, I can't check for a child that matches Samuel.

I would think that Samuel and Eliza had additional children not known to me.
