William and Mary L Hoblitzell Piatt

William Piatt was born in Kentucky c1811 to Robert and Nancy Jones Piatt and died (before June) 1900. He married first August 2, 1832, to Mary Louise Satterlee who was born in 1814 and second on June 30, 1845, in Allegany, Maryland to Mary Louise Hoblitzell who was born c1821 in Maryland.

William was born in Kentucky, but ended up in Indiana where most of his children were born. When his father, Robert's, will was written in April of 1845 he says 'I, Robert Piatt, of Fountain County, Indiana'. Perhaps he was living with or near William at that time. William's last two known children were born in Illinois. He is said to have moved to Cumberland, Maryland, in the 1860's. I do not have an abstract for William on the ?Fountain County, Indiana census of 1850.

William and family appeared as follows on the 1860 census of Boone County, KY:

After he moved to Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, he became mayor on 5/8/1871. He later became Judge of the Orphan Court 1877-1879 at this place.

According to descendant information proven by William's daughter, Sallie, their line goes like this:

[p.22] Daughter of William Piatt (1811-1900) and Mary Louise Hoblitzell, his 2nd wife. Granddaughter of Robert Piatt (1759-1857) and Nancy Jones, his 1st wife. Gr-granddaughter of Daniel Piatt and Catherine Sherrad, his wife. Daniel Piatt (1745-80) in 1776 commanded the 7th company, 1st battalion, New Jersey Line, and, 1778, promoted major, serving in the 1st regiment. Died in camp near Morristown, N.J.
