Gorky's Zygotic Mynci release Spanish Dance Troupe, their debut single for the Mantra label on September 20th. It will be available on three track 7" and CD, the additional tracks are (Do The) Chicken In The Jungle, and The Johnny Cash Lawsuit Song. (catalogue number MNT47). All songs were written by Euros Childs. Gorky's new LP, their sixth, also titled Spanish Dance Troupe, will be released on October 4th. The band completed the LP in less than four weeks actual recording time, over a five month period between September 98 and May 99, when studio time was available and financing permitted. For all these new sessions, Gorky's returned to the familiar surrounds of Studio OFN in Anglesey (where the Barafundleâ and Bwyd Timeâ lps were recorded), with their regular producer Gorwel Owen.The artwork for the sleeve was created by Alfie Benge, whose previous work can be seen on the sleeves of her husband, Robert Wyatts's albums.

Appropriately Gorky's went underground in Spain to launch the single and album with a special performance in the three - billion - year - old caves - L'Esplugues De Francoli Cova De La Font Major on September 1st. The performance was described by the NME thus: "There is a flowing, symphonic feel to what they do now. Augmented bu a trumpet player and a second guitarist, they divide their set between the rapt, understated melancholy of their new material and their rejuvenated back catalogue. The NME found itself in the unusual position of wanting more" The band are set to play UK dates early in November.
