About the Centre
The Centre for Social Research has been established as
a Department for Social Research of the Kyrgyz National
Academy of Sciences in the 1980s. In 1992 it was registered
as a semi independent research Centre.
The main objectives of the Centre are:
- conducting social survey studies on various social,
economic and political issues
- analysing social and political situations and studying
the interethnic relations in Central Asian Republics with
focus on Kyrgyzstan
- creating a database of social surveys conducted by
the Centre for Social Research and by other research centres
- organising and conducting conferences, seminars, workshops
on national, regional and international levels
- publishing monographs, research papers, articles, etc.
- organising courses of continuing education to enhance professional
skills of teaching cadres, employees in the state instituitions
and commercial structures
- organising training and re-training programmes overseas as well as inviting foreign specialists, establishing
joint research projects with foreign research centres
- running courses on Kyrgyz, Russian and foreign languages
