A Memory Shadow
We came into the world naked and fresh
screaming and crying and gasping for breath
unknowing, not caring, no hang-ups at best
then needs start occurring, just like all the rest
We toddle and crawl, exploring a new world
soon to discover whether boy or girl
watching simple things, like wind moving the leaves
we breeze right past the terrible three's
Then sandboxes and swings and "lotsa" other things
we begin to start school and see what it brings
learning our numbers, expanding our mind
growing and sharing the things that we find
Through youth we do plunder and soon it does seem
we are watching the stars and making a dream
disappointments seem huge, bigger than life
we turn to those older to deal with the strife
Then eyes are awakened as we enter our teens
love is felt strongly, we wish to know what it means
emotions become burdens we can't understand
when we first ask another to just hold our hand
From that we are grown, mature as adults
but in our own eyes without the faults
we walk in new shoes now, new prints shall we make
not listening to others cause they are all fake
we continue our journey, not believing in fate
sharing our lives now with a new mate
making love vows, true from the heart
missing each other when we are apart
Love does bond tighter the older we get
raising our kids with not one regret
teaching them love and doing our best
hoping that GOD will do all the rest
These verses are not over, for the longer we live
we'll be remembered by others, for the things we did give
we "go" as we came, hoping at last
we have been forgiven those things that sheltered our past
