Concert Reviews

The Concerts!!!

First of all, all of the reviews are merely personal opinion!! If you have been to any of the following concerts, feel free to e-mail me - Prozak_Addict@bolt.com - and send me YOUR reviews of these concerts and I will post them on the webpage ASAP.

Aerosmith- 11/25/98

They kicked ass. They had a great combination of both new and old songs, to better appeal to the wide variety of people in the crowd. The stage setup looked really cool, with huge blow-up snakes and all for “Taste of India”. The age and social range of the audience was rather strange. Everything from teenage punks, to jocks, to 50 year olds… it was interesting, though. I would definitely recommend this concert to anyone.

Foo Fighters/Red Hot Chili Peppers- 07/1/00

First, Foo Fighters. They were a lot of fun. Dave Grohl went out into the crowd and really talked and joked around, which I thought was awesome. Did I mention my bra landed right next to his foot? That was sweet. Only complaint? They didn’t have anything setup on stage, it was very bare.

Ok, Chili Peppers. If you’re looking for straight music, without the fun and games, this would be good for ya. I, personally, was kinda disappointed. They performed well, and the stage setup was pretty neat, but they just came out, played, and left. They never bothered to talk to the audience or anything, as most bands do.

Pigstock- 07/3/00 featured UPO, Stir, Mile, and 3 Doors Down

This whole concert was great. I got a chance to meet at least one person from each band, and I’ve got a T-shirt full of autographs.

UPO- They were pretty good. They were basically the only band people moshed to.

Stir- They were really good. These guys really have a lot of talent, and were very cool to talk to.

Mile- These guys were also really good. I probably would’ve went to see Stir and Mile, without 3 Doors Down. They were awesome.

3 Doors Down- What can I say? They were pretty new to the music scene, and were just getting popular, and yet their stage presence suggested they’d been playing for years. They really knew what they were doing, and they definitely knew how to work the crowd.

Punk Show, Klub Phenomenon 5/18/01 featuring Padlock, Supermints, Twin Star, Dexter, and Showoff

Padlock- I, personally love these guys. If you’re into Blink 182, you’ll be into Padlock. I thought they did a great job, and they are really nice guys to talk to. They’ve got potential.

Supermints- Again, these guys kicked ass. Potential? Yes. They’ve got the energy and attitudes of everything we love in punk bands.

Twinstar- I really wasn’t feeling these guys, and I wasn’t the only one. I think half the crowd left. I could barely hear the vocals, and they were way too mellow for a punk show.

Dexter- These guys were pretty good. They brought the crowd back, and woke them up, after the nap we all took during Twinstar. Potential level’s a maybe. They were good, but not nearly as good as the 1st 2 bands.

Showoff- These guy rocked, and were definitely the highlight of the show (well, I was all about the 1st 2 myself). These guys already have tons of fans, and I expect to hear more from them in the future… maybe even an MTV gig?

Pigstock ‘01- 06/08/01 featuring Professional Murder Music, Oleander, Saliva and Buck Cherry

PMM- I wasn’t really into this band, they came off as a Korn rip-off, no individual style. As for their performance, they tried, and I’ll give them props for that. It’s hard being a no-name band, going on first, while it’s still daylight, before the crowd’s pumped up. If they would’ve gone on later on, I think the crowd would’ve gotten into them more.

Oleander- These guys kick-ass. I have no complaints. They got up there, and really got the crowd pumped up for the rest of the night.

Saliva- These guys rocked as well. The singer talked to the crowd a lot, which was awesome. The only complaint, he really focused on one section of the crowd, not the rest. Fortunately, I was in that section of the crowd. They also had a cool introduction.

Buck Cherry- These guys were definitely the highlight. They were really full of energy, which rubbed off on the crowd (a little too much, I’ve got the bruises to prove it!). The lead singer definitely knows what he’s doing up there, and has got all the moves to prove his confidence and stage presence (trust me, I was drooling over every one!).

Blink 182 w/ Alkaline Trio & Newfound Glory-

This was definatley the best show I've ever been to. Alkaline Trio and Newfound Glory were definatley the best opening acts I've ever seen. I'd go just to see them. Of course, the real action happened when Blink came on. The stage setup was awesome, complete with tons of pyrotechnics and all. They are just such a fun band anyway, and it was the perfect combination of rocking out to good music, and still laughing your ass off. I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my life. Word of warning: This tour is like the "lets see how many parents we can piss off" tour; complete with a giant sign that read 'fuck blink'. It's truly an awesome show.. but I won't give away anymore suprises.. you'll have to go for yourself to get the full effect.
