Saint Andrew is the patron Saint of Fishermen. His feast day is November 30th. Andrew was one of the men to be called by Jesus to follow him. After Andrew met Jesus he brought his brother Peter to meet him. Andrew`s name means "courageous" and "manly".

He brought others to notice Christ. Andrew went forth upon his missions to plant the faith in Scythia and Greece.

When Saint Andrew first caught sight of the gibbet on which he was to die, he greeted the precious wood with joy. He had it put in the shape of an X because he said he was not worthy to die on a cross such as Jesus did. He remained hanging alive on the cross for two days and preached about the goodness of God.

In Arkansas, our Bishop "Bishop Andrew J. McDonald" encouraged us to pray to St. Andrew and said he is one of his favorite saints.

If you wish to pray to St. Andrew, the prayer is, "We humbly entreat your majesty, O Lord, that as the Blessed Apostle Andrew was once a teacher and ruler of your Church, so he may be our constant intercession before you."

Amen.
