Did you ever attend a St. Patrick`s Day parade or wear green on March 17? If you did you were celebrating the feast of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. There have been many legends about St. Patrick.

Patrick prayed many times a day during the 6 years he was a prisoner. His faith was greatly strengthened by this.

Once he was freed he sailed back to Britain. He became a priest and later a bishop. Patrick felt as if God was calling him to convert the pagan kings and Druids(wicked religious leaders) of Ireland. He left for Ireland and began teaching Christianity to the Irish. This is what Patrick is known for, "driving the snakes out of Ireland."

Once, Patrick picked up a clover and showed how it represents the Trinity, three persons in one God. By the time of his death in 461, St. Patrick converted almost all of Ireland.

St. Patrick allowed God to work through him and his fame had spread through the whole world. If you are Irish you can pray to him and ask his intercession with God. Even if you are not Irish, St. Patrick is still a powerful saint to pray to.
