Litha

This is the summer solstice, although referred to as "Midsummer." It is the peak of fertility, used to celebrate love, health, purification, and dedication. This holiday is often used to do dedication rituals and hand fastings.

Litha Traditions

Traditional foods include red wines, sweet breads, herb breads, and pastries.

Litha Activities

*Tie a sprig of rowan, a sprig of rue, and three flowers of St. John's Wort with a red thread and hang over the door

*Make amulets of protection out of herbs

*Create a pouch for psychic dreams (mugwort and bay leaves in a cloth of lavendar, blue, yellow and sewn with red thread) and place under your pillow

*Make a Solar Wheel

*Make a Witches Ladder

*You can burn the old Yule wreath in the Litha fire

*Gather herbs like St. John's Wort, vervain, and yarrow

*Soak thyme in olive oil, then lightly aniont your eyelids to see the long life and the protection of the home
