The William Henry Stiner Family of Arkansas
William Henry Stiner was born in 1830 in Mississippi or Louisiana. He served in Company C of the First Arkansas Infantry during the Civil War with William Lingo. William Lingo had married Clarrisa Angaline Brown in Lawrence Co, AR, (at Stranger's Home - near Walnut Ridge). She was from Posey Co, IN, (born 1840) and had at least two sisters who were mentioned in their father's will. Apparently, her family returned to Posey Co, IN, after the end of the war. William Lingo and William Stiner were both wounded in the war and William Lingo told William Stiner that if he should die he wanted William Stiner to marry his wife, Angaline, and take care of their two sons, Wally and Gussie Lingo. As it happened, that was exactly what came to pass.
They were married in Lawrence Co, AR, in 1864 and came to Mountain Home, Baxter Co, AR, where Wally and Gussie died of a fever. Angaline and W H Stiner had children Jacob Henry Stiner, John Stiner and Mary Stiner Beamon. Jacob said that he was born at the foot of Wallace Knob in 1865. William Henry Stiner died in 1900 and Angaline in 1932.
