PORTRAIT OF YOU
If I could paint a portrait
of every painting done,
I would start with you.
I would paint the ocean (color of green-blue)
to signify your eyes.
And the bright sunlight shining on its waves
to represent their sparkle of light.
I would color a dark, black-brown
like the bark of the trees
as the hair on your head; the color I see.
Then I would blush a red, red rose
in remembrance of your tender lips.
I would draw Achilles as your strong, masculine nose,
to portray your strength.
I would brush the light brown earth
like your tanned, clear, skin.
I would fill it with blades of grass
like the hair upon your chest.
I would sketch some tall oak trees
like your very strong arms,
and the mountains of Vermont to signify your legs.
I would paint a waterfall
from a tropic isle to represent your soul.
I would imitate a fire
to show your warm, warm heart.
You may not recognize yourself,
but you would surely see
the beauty and the love,
of what you are to me.
