Castlevania was a pretty good game. It had good graphics and sound. The music was real spooky at parts as well. A lot of areas to explore and enemies and bosses to kill. The difficulty was challenging also. There is a lot of extra stuff to get as well, like second costumes for both characters.
Well, this did ok in some parts, but lacked some in other pats as well as not very good design(They rushed the game). They could have done better on the camera angles, those are killer, they will completely mess you up. Not as many vampire enemies that there should have been I thought. Also not many parts that would scare you to death, like the Resident Evil games would. They could have made real dialogue, well they did in the very begining, but thats all. The endings weren't very good, too short and non-detailed.
Like most of N64's games, they are either rushed, or held back. And that shows a bunch. Castlevania was rushed, since it had already been delayed two times, first for Winter of '98 I think and then in Spring or Fall of '99. In other words it could have been better, if the designers spent more time on it. But games that get held back, and worked on and perfected, such as Perfect Dark has been, that will show up as a postive way. Well anyways, Castlevania for the N64 wasn't as good as all the other great Castlevania games in my opinion, but it still is a good game. I'll have to see what Castlevania: Legacy of Dark is like soon...
