Forever Lost

Many Lonely nights spent thinking
Of past joys and loves long gone.
Pain and despair his only companion,
The present seeks an ending.

Hard years, were the last few,
A body no longer strong and firm,
Dependant on the care of others,
Dignity and pride bruised and broken.

No one to comfort and console,
Nor share the few remaining moments.
Slowly life ebbs away as,
Death reaches out and takes his hand.

No tears were shed in his passing,
A plain pine box, unmarked grave,
An entire life of hopes and dreams,
One man's existence forever lost.
