Skeeter's Jalopy

Skeeter was my best friends brother.

Tall with big ears that were kinda floppy.

To be around him as always a delight.

Especially when we'd ride in his old Jalopy.

He never did have a drivers license.

In fact he couldn't drive that well.

We didn't care, We'd hop in

And go ridin 'round for a spell.

Old country roads where our highways.

He'd always seemed to find the bumps

And when he couldn't find any, I swear,

He'd go lookin' for a few humps.

Jostlin and bouncin along the road,

That old Jalopy rode awfully rough.

The springs on the seats poked out.

To ride in it ya had to be kinda tough.

A long time has passed since then,

I really do miss them days of old.

When a simple ride to the store,

Made men of us, strong and bold.

Many valuable lessons in life I've learned,

The most valuable of all? Well, here's a clue.

When your ridin 'round in an old Jalopy,

Make sure ya don't swaller your chew.
