The color of a lightsaber is due to a crystal used by the Jedi while building it,it has nothing to do with his rank nor does the color reflect whether the jedi is good or evil (even though Sith usually use red). One of the steps of becoming a Jedi is creating your own lightsaber, and again the Jedi determines what color it is the standard Jedi weapon is the single bladed lightsaber.
