I'd love to hear from some of you when you have the time. I have absolutely no idea where some of you went and what you became professionally, where you live, etc. And I suppose it's likewise that some of you have no idea where I went after graduation and how I ended up in Colorado. At the risk of having our reunion right here on the internet, I'm going to start my own mini-electronic reunion here tonight, but in a nutshell, Reader's Digest version.
I went to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth originally as a journalism major (remember all my aspirations in that field?) I ended up a nursing major however, and specialized in cardiac nursing( remember my heart rhythm problem I had all through grade school and highschool?) I stayed in Fort Worth and worked in ICU, surgery and cardiac catheterization lab. I met a young "Texas oil man" through my church in Wedgewood (suburb of Ft.Worth known for recent events), got married there and we were transferred during the oil boom to Colorado for 8 years. We couldn't get pregnant for YEARS, so we adopted a baby boy from Korea ( some of you may remember Andrew at our second reunion). Got transferred back to Arlington, TX and miraculously got pregnant and had Amy ( whom some of you saw at our second reunion). We missed Colorado terribly; left the company and moved back to the Denver area again, only to Littleton this time. Have been here 8 years now and absolutely LOVE it. Hey, but this old hen wasn't done yet. Because 3 years ago "out of the blue" we had another baby, Daniel, who is 3 years old right now(many of you met him at my dad's funeral earlier this year.) I'm a full time homeschooling mother and find it more rewarding and more challenging than all the critical care nursing I ever did.
Though I love Colorado, Warren still is a place I can call home and I miss many things about Warren and the people there. Now that both of my parents have passed away and we have sold our childhood home there in Warren, it was like another death in the family to leave and have no house or parent there ( or sibling either).
So this e-mail is really great for me to keep in touch with my roots. But I also have a few other Warren people up here iin the Denver area. Liz Huey Brazeel and Danny Brazeel; Steve and Susie McKinney Simmon's daughter, Tommy Ederington's youngest sister. We get with the Brazeels often, especially when one of the Huey's is visiting (they grew up next door to me, for those of you who may not remember).
By the way, back on that heart problem I mentioned earlier, so long as everyone is praying for Mark's cancer, let me add my heart to your list. I'm going in next week because of very frequent P.A.T's (that is the official label for my "heart thang"). They're happening too frequently lately.
Well, being the Reader's Digest version, I'd better close. Hope to see y'all sometime next year. Does anyone want to have our Senior Trip finally, and have our reunion someday in Hot Springs,,Little Rock, Branson, Dallas, Denver or somewhere?!!!
