John "Black John" HASSELL, son of Benjamin and Rachel LNU HASSELL, was born 18 MAY 1798 in Tyrrell County, North Carolina and died about 1891 in Hickman County, Tennessee. John married before 27 DEC 1825 to Catherine ADAIR. Catherine was born about 1807 and died 20 JAN 1881 in Little Lot, Hickman County, Tennessee.

John and Catherine are both buried in the family cemetery on the Black John Hassell farm in Hickman County, Tennessee.
