how it was and how it came to be

Well several years ago, I started a zine called "The Girl Next Door" in my attempt to communicate. It was a rocky start but I got a little support and the zine grew a over time. I realized that I had somewhat of a following, so I decided to branch off and create a new zine called "The Diary of The Love/Hate Cycle". This one was all poetry and expression unlike my mainly political and offending "The Girl Next Door". I only produced one printing of "The Diary" because the help I had lost the material for the next issue. By this time I decided to change the name of "The Girl Next Door" to "The Diary of The Girl Next Door" and include poetry. The whole theme of my zine was really dark, I would include newspaper clippings of the high school shootings and obituaries and the like. I wrote several articles along with a few of my friends, but the main content was mostly end of the world tracts and pamphlets on gun control, abortion, anti-feminism(which created quite a stir) and any other non-politicaly friendly propaganda. I got lots of flack from this, especially from local so-called punks. The local underground scene was overflowing with "open-minded" assholes, which really were not very openminded at all. The punks were bound with the own beliefs and the beliefs of their peers, believing only what sounded "rebelous" and politically correct-leaving out the backbone of P.C. thinking "tolerance". If what you said didnt fit their standards, ideas, or ideals then it was thrown out. Your damned if you try to speak your mind, your damned if you dont do it they way they think you should and your damned if you dont do anything at all.---Well after a while of this a got fed up and decided to quit the zine for a while or for good. I put the last issue on the web for a while until I started this E-Zine. The purpose of this is to let everyone realize their own mortality and to appreciate all kinds of attempts to communicate regardless of race, color, social statis, sex, or education. This is my real attempt to communicate to those who have open minds and hearts. Im human, I suffer the same shit that everyone else suffers. I BELIEVE in God, I do my best to follow him! Some of what you read is my prayers, or what God spoke to me. Some passages are my thoughts, ideas ect. Some are written by others, but all are from the heart. WE are all human, we all make mistake and as soon as we realize that and start helping one another overcome those faults or strongholds, the better off we will be... - Joey Higgins.
