The highest resolution video will be the Mini DV or DV Pro, and the lowest VHS or 8MM, but for all practical purposes the resolution the viewer recieves on his home computer is really no better than VHS. For that reason you dont have to run out and get a DV camcorder to start. The Computer Cams you have on your machine are low resolution units, but they will work to input for video email and such. If you do not like your image, you probably have not paid attention to the lighting. Also your camera placement may be at the wrong place to give you the angle which shows you the best.

My opinion - at this time - Wireless Internet is the fastest ISP, you may be subject to weather - depending on your distance from the transmitter/reciever. Satallite has a time delay of some X seconds which may not satisfy game players. Fiber Optic Cable will be a common and useable choice, and all of us on the phone lines will be constrained by the 56k problem, DSL is fast but....has problems still.
Still it is time to start learning this technology and applying it to the best of your abilty - the field will open up soon - and video producers in this field will find lots of work.

The greatest majority of you who read this are home users connecting to the internet with telephone lines. Im in the same boat folks. We are limited by the slowness of the connection speed (bandwith) the amount of traffic accessing our ISP can drop your 56k connection and lagg even simple use of the internet. You see this in the slowness that your e-mail will download.
I have brought you back to this basic point because, regardless of the potental of the internet we have to accept the realities of our own systems.
I am assuming you are studying this manual to improve your video skills, and would like to apply them to the internet and your web pages. The internet will have a great influence on video and could offer you a great advantage in the near future. As a skilled video producer with internet IT skills, you will soon find factorys and manifactur's streaming product demonstration videos and various sales messages. For sometime to come the effective sites will limit themself to short video presentations, which will download quickly, and also antimations made from the videos.
By learning the available technology and applying your video skills you will be among the first to serve this new market.
