   ACA Grand Prix Rules

  1. The Arkansas Chess Association Grand Prix is open to members of the ACA and ASCA  who reside  in AR and have their ACA and ASCA membership dues up to date.

  2. ACA members, who play in any regular open (G/30 or longer) ACA tournament, the AR State Quick Chess or any USCF AR affiliated club tournament advertised in the ACA News, shall have the non-bye points earned by that member at those tournaments totaled for the purpose of awarding Grand Prix prizes at the end of the year.  All Grand Prix tournaments shall be limited to no more than six rounds.  Local affiliates are limited to one tournament per year for GP purposes

  3. Prizes will be awarded for "Arkansas Player of the Year" in: 

    1. 1st place overall to the player with the most GP points.

    2. 2nd place overall to the player with the second most GP points.

    3. Classes A, B, C, D, E/and below,  to the player with the most GP points in each Class.

      1. Players who play tournaments in more than one class, carry their points with them as they move up through the ranks but at the end of the year they are credited for the class they played the most tournaments in.  

      2. If a player plays in an equal number of tournaments in more than one class, that player will compete in the class in which h/s earned the most points.  

      3. If a player has played in an equal number of tournaments in more than one class and has earned an equal number of points in each class, that player will compete in the lower classes.

  4. The tournament directors of these events are responsible for getting the results of their tournaments to the ACA secretary in a timely manner so that these results may be properly tabulated.

  5. Plaques will be awarded for each prize at the AR Open.

    1. In the event of a tie, two or more players having an equal number of GP points competing for the same overall or class prize.

    2. The player earning the highest number of GP points in the highest class will be awarded the prize.  If the players have equal points and played in the same class through the entire year, the tie-breaks will be:

      1. the player winning the most events;

      2. the player winning the most class prizes in h/r current class;

      3. the player winning the most class prizes in total;

      4. the player who achieved these points with the fewest games played.
