Advanced Level

This tutorial is diffently for the advanced student. I wrote for the advanced student if you are a beginner I suggest you try my easier tutorials on animation. I hope to encourage you to make more animations. The Most Important thing I hope is you Have Fun!


What you will need to do this tutorial:
1. PSP 7
2. Envelope and Card tubes. Download, unzip to folder labeled Valentine Animation you have made.

Let's Get Started

Let's Make The Envelope:
It is important to remember to not move your envelope pieces once you get started on the tutorial.
1. Open Envelope Tube #1.
2. Make a duplicate of this tube and minimize. Hold down the shift key and click on the letter "D" on the keyboard. This is how you will get your duplicate.
3. Working on the bottom part of your envelope it is time to decide what color you want your envelope to be. I suggest a little darker color because in a little bit we will making a lighter shade of this color. In the top color palette box select solid color and the color you want. I used color number HTML #F4688D.
4. Go the Magic Wand and click around the white envelope bottom.
5. Go to Selections>Invert.
6. Click on the Flood Fill tool and fill the marching ants.
7. Go to Selections>Float.
8. Go to Edit>3D Effects>Cut out use these settings:

Vertical 2
Horizontal 2
Opacity 40
Blur 10
Color Black
Click ok
Deselect the Ants

9. Open Envelope Tube # 2. Go to Edit>Copy.
10. Click on the working image and go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer. Move this to the top of the bottom part of the envelope. Here is what you should now have.

11. Repeat Steps 3 through 9.
12. Open Envelope Tube # 3. Go to Edit>Copy.
13. Click on the working image Go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer. This is the bottom opening of your envelope see below:

14. After moving this part to the envelope like in the illustration above click the Magic Wand and click anywhere on the working image.
15. Go to Selections>Invert. You should have only marching ants around this envelope part.
16. Go to Top Color Palette and choose a lighter shade of the color you used for the envelope. I used HTML #F7C1D6.
17. Flood fill the marching ants and deselect the ants.
18. Open Envelope Tube # 4. Go to Edit>Copy.
19. Click on working image go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer. See below for positioning of this tube:

20. Repeat steps 14 through 17. Your opened envelope is complete at this time. Minimize this image we will be working on it again.
21. Open a new 400x400 Transparent Image.
22. Open Card Blank go to Edit>Copy.
22. Click on blank transparent image and go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer.
23. Click on Magic Wand and click on the working image.
24. Go to Selections>Invert.
25. Flood fill this card with the same color you used for the lighter shade of the envelope parts. I used HTML #F7C1D6. Deselect the ants.
26. Now is the time to decorate your card open all the tubes you are going to use. Copy and Paste them to your card where you want.
27. If you want to use text on your card I made a New Rastar Layer then added my text. I rotated my words go to Image>Rotate>Left 15 click ok. I used text BalmoralD Size 72. It is the downloads section.
28. You should now have your card the way you want. Go to Layers>Merge>Visible.
29. Go to Edit>Copy.
30. Open the envelope we made previously and go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer.
31. We will now cut off the bottom part of the card we made. See illustration below:

a. Click on the Selection Tool. Setting Rectangle draw a line on the bottom half of the card. Then click on the cutting tool.


33. In this position go to the Layer Palette and move this Layer # 6 below #4. You will now see this:


34. In the Layer Palette make sure Layer 6 is highlighted. We are going to remove the excess of the card. Click on the Rope Tool cutting tool and follow the lines around the card that isn't covered up like below:


35. After you have the marching ants around the image click on the scissors or use delete on keyboard. You will see nothing at this point but the envelope open.
36. Go to Layer Palette and move Layer 6 to the top. You will see the top portion of the card you want showing.
37. Go to Layers>Merge>Visible.
38. Go to File>Save As Vcard 2 psp. DO NOT close this image.
39. Go to Edit>Undo merged layers.
40. Go to Layer Palette and Delete Layer 6 which is the card we have been working with.
41. Copy and Paste the card you made as a whole back on to the working image.
42. Position the card where you did before. Repeat steps 31 through 32. See below:


43. Move the card as illustrated below:


44. Repeat steps 34 through 37. See below of what you should have.


45. Go to File>Save As Vcard3. psp. DO NOT close this image.
46. Go to Edit>Undo Merged Layers.
47. Go to Layer Palette and delete Layer 6.
48. Click on the card once again go to Edit>Copy.
49. Click on working image and go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer. 50. This is the last time we will be cutting any of the card. Repeat the above steps 34 through 37. See below how it should look:


51. Go to Layers>Merge Visible.
53. Go to File>Save As>Vcard 4. psp.
54. Go to Edit>Undo Merged Layers.
55. Go to Layer>Palette and delete Layer 6.
56. Click on the card you made go to Edit>Copy.
57. Click on working image go to Edit>Paste As A New Layer.
58. Move the card above the envelope so it is completely out of the envelope now.
59. Go to Image>Rotate. Settings: Left 15 click ok.
60. Mine was a little bigger than I liked so I resized it by 90 Percent.
61. Add the Sparkle tube to the working image anywhere you would like.
62. Go to Layers>Merge Visible.
63. Go to File>Save As>Vcard 5.psp.
64. Minimize the finished card. Remember the first bottom part of the envelope we minimized it is now time to work it. Restore it so it will open up in your PSP. Do not move the envelope. It is exactly where it should be.
65. It is time now to decorate the front of your envelope. Flood fill it the darker color you used before. Repeat Step 3 through 8.
66. Now you can add any tubes you would like at this time. I zipped quite a few in the above download for you to use.
67. After you have the tubes you want on your envelope you may add text. Add a New Rastar Layer and add your text.
68. When you have completed the outside of your envelope. Go to Layers>Merge>Visible.
69. Go to File>Save As>Vcard 1.psp.
ANIMATION TIME!
1. Launch the animation workshop.
2. Go to File>Animation Wizard.
3. 1st pop up make sure Same as first frame is checked click next.
4. 2nd pop up Transparent is checked click next.
5. 3rd pop up Upper left hand corner and with the canvas color checked click next.
6. 4th pop up Yes repeat should be checked and type in 40 in the little box and click next.
7. 5th pop up click on add image. Add all the images you saved they should be starting at the top Vcard 1 through 6. Click next.
8. Last pop up click finish.
9. Go to Animation>Resize. Type in 300x300 with pixel size checked click ok.
10. Go to View>Animation. You should see everything moving from the card closed to opening up.
11. I wasn't happy with display time so I changed them. Go to the first frame in your animation displays and click on frame 1 right click on it and go to frame properties. When the pop up box appears type in 90 click ok.
12. Then go to frame 6 right click frame properties and change it to 100 click ok.
13. Go to View>Animation.
14. Go to File Save As (Name your animation) make sure you save it as a gif file.
