Formal Raise

"Maverick" is a 2000 model 16.1 hand thoroughbred gelding. Recently retired from racing with 45 starts, 3 wins, 6 seconds and 3 thirds earning $33,576. He was retired sound and ready to move on to his next career. The only blemish he has is a scar on his right forearm. I was told by the trainer that it "has always been there" since she bought him. Maverick is a kind horse who loves interaction with "his" people. He enjoys being groomed and especially having his ears rubbed. He stands quietly for the farrier and for bathing. His front feet were shod on 5/7/07 and his hinds are barefoot. He's current on deworming. He's also had one session of acupunture this month (May) and has also had his teeth floated. Maverick is uncomplicated under saddle. He should be a fairly easy retrain even for a pony club type of home. He's willing and learns quickly. I've ridden him outside and also in an indoor round pen. He's not spooky but is alert. He's pretty supple coming off the track and has a lovely soft mouth. Maverick is already learning how to move off of leg and seems to be catching on quickly. He has been started over fences and shows natural ability and a desire to do more. He hacks out alone or in company and is not phazed by much. Maverick is currently living outside 24/7 with four other geldings. He also stalls well and has no vices. This horse would do well as an eventer or even in the hunter ring. He's a smoothe ride and seems to be pretty athletic. Please email me for any other questions.
