March 13th, 2008; I find it inconceivable that Canada will not allow low speed vehicles (LSVs) on our Canadian roads. Canada's own ZENN, Dynasty and Electrovaya automakers make small, four-wheel, electric cars classified locally as Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs). It appears that our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, is not really serious about getting rid of the huge amount of smog caused from gasoline and diesel emissions from vehicle driven in our major Canadian cities across Canada. Not to mention the real health hazard these toxic, dangerous fumes which are a major contribute to lung cancer. How idiotic it is when we have manufactures of fumeless, pollution free Electric Vehicles (LSVs) and not take advantage and use them? Our own Canadian electric vehicle manufactures desperately want to sell their products here in Canada, in their home market and see people use them, but both Transport Canada and our own Ontario Ministry of Transportation insist to restrict these sedate LSVs to "planned" areas only. Like on campuses, retirement communities or in large parks. At present LSV owners are legally banned from taking their electric vehicles on our Canadian roads. The people at Transport Canada and Ontario's Ministry of Transportation seem to think that these electric vehicles can not be on our roads with gas driven vehicles which are insanely too fast to begin with. How fast are those hi-speed cars which are capable to reach 200 clicks per hour, allowed to go on most city streets? About 15 - 30 - 50 km/h, depending on the zone. Most secondary roads have a 30 - 50 km/h speed limit. Major roads have a 50-80 km/h speed limit. Only on major highways do you really have fast traffic at 120 km/h or more speed limit. Besides, bicycles and electric scooters use Canada's streets and roads, and some of these do not go any faster than 30 km/h. So what gives? Officials at Transport Canada and Ontario's Ministry of Transportation are hung-up on the fact that these LSVs are cars. So their excuse is that these vehicles do not have air bags, side-impact reinforcement or meet any crash-test standards. Neither do bicycles, scooters or motorcycles have air bags, side-impact reinforcement or meet any crash-test standards. Yet, they are not banned from being on our streets and roads. Lets get sensible! Or are these people at Transport Canada and Ontario's Ministry of Transportation going to be the laughing stock of the entire world?

March 16th, 2008; Today is a bright, sunny mild day with the barometer reading on Fair, 30.3 on the scale. This evening, I decided to make another attempt to see if I can bring in CBC on my TV. Most of the time, CBC come's in kind of ghostly or the picture is double, which makes it preferable to listen to the news broadcast or programs I normally like to watch. I have laid out the rabbit-ears between the ceiling and the drop-down ceiling in my all around bed-living room. It seems to be the best location to receive the best signal. Not only that, it hides those unsightly rabbit ears from view. I had to get the stepladder and tried to adjust then so that I can get CBC a lot better than what I was getting on my TV. After making several adjustments on the rabbit ears, I finally managed to get CBC, though it comes in a bit snowy. I can't seem to get a clear picture with CBC as I can on CTV. I had noticed that big difference over the past fifty years between the difference in reception and clarity one gets with CTV compared to what can be obtained with CBC. It must be because CTV might have a lot stronger signal than CBC. That do not say much about CBC, given that it is our national broadcast station. One would expect that it would have had the best reception than all of the broadcast stations across Canada. At least that is what I have noticed to be always the case out here in the rural areas across the country. Speaking about country, that reminds me that next year, I will start to get my old age pension. Hopefully, I will be in a much better position than I am now, which will allow me the possibility to purchase a wilderness property, or at least in some semi-wilderness area and build a nice small log cabin on it. Making that long delayed, standing dream, to finally come true at last. Now that I have finally had made up my mind, after all these years, to take up that challenge. One way or another, I will see it through. I had always been against buying land property because it all belongs to GOD, and as having been born into this world, have the GOD given right to use it for our sustenance and pleasure. But humanity had corrupted that by introducing its own way of doing things. I have finally come to realize that in order to have any kind of peace of mind, I would have to "purchase" a little piece of GOD's world. So far, That part of the plan is still an unknown factor, as to where that will be. It all depends upon where that wilderness property will be located. But wherever that location will be, I am prepared to move there, even though I had originally wanted to stay close to Haileybury. Now, I see that will not be possible. One thing I will insist on when looking for some wilderness property, regardless of its size, that it will have a wide creek or a river or a lake running through or adjacent to it. I do not want a place where there is no water around, where I could not use my canoe. For canoeing is very important to me, because I would feel something is missing from my life if I could no longer get into my canoe and go about in it. Finding the right place will be the hardest task because I will be limited to what land I am able to purchase. I do not want to be saddled with a huge morgage that will take me twenty years to pay off. Rather, I want something that I can pay off in a couple of years. Once I obtain some land, I will have to move all my gear there. Then I will have to set up my tent and set up another tent to store most of my gear in. Then scout the lay of the land and pick the site where the log cabin will be situated. Then, depending in the size of the land, I might have to once again move all my gear closer to the building site. Once that is done, I should have the entire summer to cut all the logs I will need and build the log cabin. building Hopefully, the basic structure will be finished by mid summer or fall, so I can move in before winter sets in. I can always finish it the way I want, the following summer. Then I can use the fall time to get my winter supply of wood to heat the place during the winter months. The first summer in my new place will consume all my time getting the cabin built. Once I build that nice, small log cabin, then the following years, I can think about everything else I want to accomplish. Like puting the finishing touches on the log cabin, making a nice garden and try to grow some herbs and basic crops. I will also want to grow my own tobacco. I already have plenty of experience in that since I had worked on tobacco farms in southern Ontario. I had even learned how to kiln tobacco to a nice golden brown texture. That will save me a bundle of money, having grown my own privet tobacco stock. When I get all that done, then I can settle down and think about getting back into painting pictures. What I have noticed over the years, is that all the girls I have ever met so far, are only interested in city or town life, and do not like the idea of living in the wilderness. Too bad for me. I have not found a female who would enjoy this kind of lifestyle and would actually want to live it with me. It would have been real nice to have a female companion, to share one's life with. But that's the way my life had turned out. I will have to settle on the fact that I will end up remaining single. I know that Buddy will love it living with me in the wilderness. He will be free to roam around with me without having a leash constantly restraining him. He will have a very good life there, and I will then be able to get him a female companion. Together, they will have an easy time pulling the dog sled around. As for me, I will always be able to go into town from time to time, wherever the town may be located from my little homestead, and have some basic human companionship while there. I am looking foreward upon starting this new adventure I will be heading into. It will be real interesting to see how it will all turn out. Somehow, I had always liked that sort of challenge into the unknown. I get easily bored from the day to day monatonous routine of "civilized" living. That has always been my personal downfall. I had real good jobs during my lifetime, but when I got to the point where I became very proficient in what my job was, I would soon get bored and loose interest and quit, and move on looking for something that would be more of a challenge for me. That was the reason I had throughout my life, went on those adventure junkets in Central and South America, or sailed the ocean blue in a forty three foot wooden ketch. It is like not really knowing where all this will end up. It is only during these adventure junkets when I really feel alive, and I get to meet so many interesting people along the way. I have learned from past experience that there is always the off chance that something will happen along the way that may drastically alter even the best laid out plans, and having to meet the challenge it presents. Looking back on my canoe trip which had brought me to Haileybury, I had enjoyed every moment of it, despite the fact that I had almost lost my life a few times along the way. Hopefully, this new adventure in finding a little wilderness area and building my log cabin and all that it entails will be a whole lot tamer than all my previous adventures. This new wilderness challenge should peek my interest for at least a few years. By then, I will probably be too old to do any more "adventuring", and will at last be able to settle down. If I ever find myself getting bored, I can always take a little canoe trip from my homestead and go off on a new adventure and relish in it.

March 17th, 2008; Today is another bright, sunny mild day. It won't be too long now when the snow and ice will be all gone. I had heard on the news media, warning people to get their ice-fishing huts off the lake because of the mild weather we are now having. They usually have to get their ice-fishing huts off the lake by end of March anyway. Today I am washing my ceiling in the kicten. It has become discoloured or tainted from all the cooking during all winter. Soon, I will be able to open the kicten windows and let some fresh air in. Last night I was reading a book titled; God's Secretaries by Adam Nicolson. It is packed with hard, accurate historical data which Adam must have done a whole lot of research when writing God's Secretaries (The making of the King James bible). This is what the New York Times Book Review stated; "Adam Nicolson's re-creation of this context is beyond praise. In God's Secretaries he brings off a brilliant freehand portrait of an England more rich yet insecure, more literate yet superstitious, more urban yet still rural in rhythm, more inified yet riven with factions." I have to agree that this writing was extraordinarily well done and represents a fairly true version of how the King James bible came to be. Unfortunatly, Adam Nicolson failed to mention that King James, though he was very "religious", was also more fond of boys than he was of women. Most Protestants would have a dim view and consider that as a charactor flaw in their minds. Frankly, I think that every "Christian" ought to read God's Secretaries by Adam Nicolson, to better understand that part of their Christian history and their religion. No doubt it will be an eye opener for those who had believed their priests and preachers. Anyway; I have already made up my mind on that perverted, apostate Christian religion to know that I do not want to have any part of it. Today is such a nice day, I think I will take Buddy out for a nice stroll. Came back from my nice pleasent stroll with Buddy. Spring is sure in the air. Now I will concentrate on what I will make for supper. I want to make something quite extraordinary to give Buddy and my own taste buds a new experience. I will look through my cookbook and see what I can dig up. The weather forecast is calling for more snow tomorrow for our region. I notice that the east coast had received another winter blast. A lot of snow was dumped on Nfld. Looks like winter is not over yet. But that is normal for the type of climate we have in Northern Ontario. Southern Ontario will more likely get rain or ice pellets, while we get the snow. Good thing I had not stowed away my shovel yet. It will be around the middle of May before we see all the snow gone. But I had seen patches of snow in shady areas in the woods during the end of May and early part of June. I can remember the cold days and nights we had during that time of the year. It was not strange to see temperatures of around 3 to 7°C during the day and -3°C at night. I had experienced that type of weather during the early part of my canoe trip which had led to my coming to Haileybury.

___________________

March 19th, 2008;Fortunately. We had only received a little bit of snow. The weather forecast today is calling for mild weather, temperatures running between plus 1 to 4°C. We did not get the freezing rain or ice pellets last night as the weather forecast had called for. Our Prime Minister Stephen Harper is now getting directly involved in Brenda Martin's case after she had made an impassioned, desperate plea to save her life. I do not know Brenda Martin, but I believe that she is an innocent victim in a case of some gross injustice she is being charged with in a foreign country where we already know from past experience, that its justice system is woefully corrupt. Brenda Martin is a 51-year-old Ontario woman who has been unjustly charged of a crime she had not committed. Martin has been imprisoned in Guadalajara, Mexico and has been awaiting trial in Mexico for the past two years, not even had her day in court to prove her innocence. She denies the claims the Mexican authorities had charged her with, and maintains her innocence, saying she was simply Wage's chef, and invested in his company believing him to be a legitimate businessman. The Mexican authorities are accusing Brenda Martin of having taken part in a $60-million fraud scheme orchestrated by her former boss Alyn Waage. Alyn Waage, a businessman, was involved in some investment scam and is now serving time in a US prison. I hope our Prime Minister can help Brenda Martin to return back to Canada safely. Our Prime Minister Stephen Harper has phoned Mexican President Felipe Calderon to discuss Brenda Martin's case. He will be sending Jason Kenney, Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity to look into the matter. This is not the first time Canadians have had bad dealings with that corrupt laden country. I hope our Prime Minister gets tough with the Mexican authorities and inform their government that if Brenda Martin is not released immediately, and allow Brenda Martin to return to Canada, Canada would black list Mexico from any future dealings with Canada. It is well known that Felipe Calderón of the National Action Party (Partido de Acción Nacional, PAN) was elected president in a controversial election. His administration has failed to end human rights violations, which remained widespread in Mexico. They have failed to reform their public security and criminal justice systems to improve the protection of human rights.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has intervened on behalf of Brenda Martin, after she had made an impassioned, desperate plea to the news media for Harper to save her life. Stephen Harper had phoned Mexican President Felipe Calderon to discuss the case and told him that Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity Jason Kenney will be visiting Martin in Guadalajara. Mexico sent a diplomatic note to Ottawa asking that Canadian officials refrain from interfering in its judicial system. That the government of Mexico reiterates its interest in and commitment to seeing the case resolved through the proper legal channels, ever respectful of the autonomy and independence of the judicial branch of government. Prime Minister Stephen Harper made an interesting statement that if the president of Mexico called me and demanded I release a Mexican national, I would not be in the position to do that, we have an independent judicial system". Yes, we do, just like in Mexico. The big difference is that if a Mexican national were arrested in Canada, he/she would not languish in our prisons for two years without having gone to a fair trial. That is the big difference. What is troubling about this case, is the kind of justice system they have in Mexico. I recall W-5 had investigated the Feb. 2005, murder case of Two Canadian people, Domenico Ianiero, 59, and his wife Annunziata, 55, from Woodbridge, Ont. They were attending a wedding for their daughter, when they were murdered in a vacation resort at a hotel near Playa del Carmen, south of Cancun, Mexico. W-5 had exposed the lies and corruption within the Mexican police force. On Jan. 12 2007, questions continued to mount on how the 19-year-old, Adam DePrisco had died while vacationing in Mexico. What was disturbing and very troubling, Mexican police had lied to our Canadian officials. The Mexican police were once again shown to be covering up this incident. Mexican officials had claimed that DePrisco was killed in a hit-and-run after leaving a local nightclub in a drunken state. But DePrisco's traveling partner, Marco Calabro, disputes that claim. He said that his friend was killed after dancing at the club with a local man's girlfriend. Calabro claims DePrisco was kicked out of the club by bouncers, who were followed by locals, and was beaten to death. Once again the Mexican police force and officials were found to have been involved in a cover-up and had lied to the DePrisco family and to our Canadian Government. I recall that the vast majority of the population in Mexico are predominately Catholic Christians. Their action reflects badly upon their Christian religion and gives it a repugnant stench. And they claim to be a holy people, a chosen people, and a people of GOD. Now that is what I call, the height of hypocrisy! Especially when all they are doing, is praying to and worshipping a phony, fictitious pagan god.

March 21st, 2008; Today it is -19°C with a clear, frosty cloudless sky, with winds coming from the NW at 24km/h, which makes it feel like it is -30°C. So we are back to our normal winter season, despite that this is now officially spring.

March 25th, 2008; This morning it has warmed up to -10°C (14°F), with partly cloudy skies but another major winter storm with blowing snow is expected later on today. The bright news is that temperatures will rise and will rise to 0°C later on today. While teaching basic computer skills to elderly people at the Haileybury library, I had noticed that I had to struggle to find my way around the Windows XP set-up, because my computer at home, was still running on Windows 98. The other day, Rege and Darcy at Tamarack Ltd, had given me a computer that runs on Windows XP. I am heartily greatfull to their kindness and generosity. I could not have afforded to buy a computer with Windows XP and all the updated system it has. I was able to spend a great deal of time just getting familiar with all of Windows XP systems. Now when I start teaching basic computer again, I will not be fumbling around on Windows XP. Windows XP, has many good features, but over all, I still really prefer Windows 98 system. Maby that is because I can whiz through the Window 98 system without having to think about it. I notice that some Canadians are greatly concerned about the increased spending of taxpayers money for beefing up security measures since the Sept. 11 attacks on U.S. soil. It has cost Canadians an extra $24 billion. The federal government has never revealed the costs of extra security precautions taken after the 2001 attacks, but CBC News estimates the multibillion-dollar figure by tallying budgets from various departments and interviewing sources familiar with defence-related spending. Domestic security accounted for the largest portion of expenditures at around $15 billion. That amount includes costs such as paying domestic airlines to outfit planes with reinforced doors on pilots' cabins and installing high-tech detection scanners at ports and land crossings. The huge increase in the military's budget makes up another big chunk of the spending. After subtracting normal yearly increases in place before Sept. 11, the Canadian military received an estimated $9 billion extra since 2002. The annual rate of military spending in the budget has also doubled. The RCMP's annual budget has also risen by close to $1 billion since 2001 and the budget of Canada's intelligence agency, CSIS, has nearly doubled. Another report just came out, this time by humanitarian agencies. A group by the Atlantic Council of the United States, which is a high level think-tank in Washington, which represents ex-diplomats, business leaders and retired generals. They are claiming that too much of the the aid that is being given to Afghanistan in reconstruction projects and development is being wasted and a number of Western nations, including Canada, are not living up to their reconstruction and aid development pledges. Just a day earlier, there were similarly harsh words from the Afghanistan Study Group, a panel of experts assembled in 2006 to probe international strategy in Afghanistan. I recall that the same council had released a short, sharp shock of a report on Jan. 31,2008 calling for "urgent action" needed to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a failed state. Frankly, this whole Afghanistan busuness is going to end up as a waste of Canadian lives, resources, and taxpayers money.

March 26th, 2008; This morning seems so far away from any idea of being spring, while the winds and snow is gusting from the NW at 30-40 km/h, with tempatures hovering around -9°C, which feels more like -18°C. Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan released the provincial budget yesterday which outlines a three-year, $1.5 billion plan to help retrain 20,000 unemployed Ontarians and train more apprentices, boost financial aid for students. The budget also includes business tax cuts worth $750 million over four years, including a retroactive cut to capital tax, worth around $190 million to manufacturers. This is the Miginty;s Liberal plans for creating new jobs, retraining program for unemployed Ontarians, and modest business tax cuts their weapons of choice for helping Ontario fight the impact of a slowing U.S. economy. The Ontario Liberals' third consecutive balanced budget, which the government called "prudent," promised to accelerate previously announced tax cuts for manufacturers, while boosting spending on health care, education and fixing aging roads and bridges. The "centrepiece'' of the $96-billion spending plan is $1.5 billion over three years to retrain skilled workers, including $355 million to help 20,000 unemployed workers get long-term career training, Duncan said in his budget speech. Almost half of the budget, $40 billion, is devoted to health care, including the hiring of more nurses, while almost $19 billion will be spent on education. Low and modest income seniors will get some help with their property taxes, giving them up to $500 through an annual grant. Social assistance is also getting a two-per-cent boost while the new Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs sees its budget almost double to $50 million. Other highlights in the budget includes, $750 million in business tax measures over four years, including retroactive tax cuts to 2007. There is also a 10-year Ontario income tax exemption for new businesses that commercialize research from qualifying universities, colleges or research institutes A previously announced $1 billion in infrastructure spending, including $467 million for public transit in the Greater Toronto area and Hamilton. The Liberals' first budget since their re-election last fall posts a $600-million surplus. Duncan predicted economic growth this year to be 1.1 per cent, and said job growth is expected to be 1 per cent with 68,000 new jobs created.

March 28th, 2008; There was another shooting in Toronto. This time the shooting took place on the subway. According to news reports, A teenage girl was shot in leg while riding a subway in Toronto. Toronto police say a 17-year-old girl is in hospital after she was shot in the leg while riding on the city's subway. The teenage girl wounds aren't life threatening. Sgt. Bill Richards says the shooting occurred on a northbound subway car just before 9 p.m. near Spadina station, in the city's downtown core. The shooting had occurred after the girl and a male got into an argument. Police are still investigating the shooting, and that no suspects have been arrested. Things are getting pretty bad in Toronto when people are getting shot on the subway. To think that hog town was once known as the freindlyest city in Canada. How things have changed!

What do I think about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama? I noticed that Hillary Clinton will lie, cheat and god knows what else to win. In a January 2004 news conference, Hillary Clinton said that she thought NAFTA, on balance has been good for New York and good for America. Then she claims that she has long been a critic of the shortcomings of NAFTA, and advocates a "time out" from similar trade agreements. Hillary Clinton had also changed her position on immigration reform. She was now calling for legislation giving undocumented workers a path to citizenship to be introduced within 100 days of her inauguration, after earlier refusing to make such a commitment. Hillary Clinton had also claimed that she had to run across the airport tarmac with her head down while bullets were flying overhead because of sniper fire, during her March 1996 visit of the U.S. troops who were in Bosnia enforcing the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement. The fact of the matter was that during Hillary's Bosnia visit, Bosnia may have still been considered a "potential" war zone in March 1996, but there were no open hostilities then. NATO troops were patrolling the area in force, engaged in tasks such as mine clearing and blowing up old ammunition dumps. A review of the news media record clearly shows according to Adrian Pandurevic, a reporter with Associated Press TV, recalled that "there were no armed groups roaming Bosnia, or any significant threat. The former front lines had been bulldozed." He described claims of "sniper fire" in and around the Tuzla base as "simply ridiculous." Hillary Clinton had lied to people about her visit to Bosnia. She just shrugged it off as if to say, so what, what is the big deal? It only proves that I'm human. As for Barack Obama, who is just as bad as Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama had state to people in Ohio how he would get the NAFTA deal changed to the advantage of the USA or they would drop NAFTA altogether. When Canadian officials questioned Obama about the statements he had made on the NAFTA issue, he quickly stated that what he had said to the voters in Ohio, was not to be taken seriously. So it seems that Obama does not seem to mind lying to people, especially to US voters. He seems to be talking from both sides of his mouth, just like a sleazy shyster. Back in January, he was against union contributions because he considered them to be "special interest" money. He changed his tune as he went after union endorsements himself. He now refers respectfully to unions as the representatives of "working people" and says he is "thrilled" by their support. Then in September, 2007, Obama supported public financing of the presidential election if his GOP opponent did the same. His spokesman later said that he never agreed to fully support public financing. Obama himself had attached several conditions on public financing, including regulating spending by outside groups. In January 2004, Obama said flatly that it was time "to end the embargo with Cuba," because it had "utterly failed in the effort to overthrow Castro." Then when he was speaking to a Cuban-American audience in Miami on August 2007, he said he would not "take off the embargo" as president because it was "an important inducement for change." When Obama was asked if the government should "crack down on businesses that hire illegal immigrants." He replied that "we do have to crack down on those employers that are taking advantage of the situation." Both of these presidential hopefuls have been found to lie and flip-flop on issues during their nomination campaigns. Both of these presidential candidates are like twiddle-dee and twiddle-bum from my perspective.

I see in the news that dozens of Canadian cities, towns and communities will be switching off their lights to mark a global effort dubbed as "Earth Hour". This Earth Hour hype is part of the Global Warming propaganda created by the UN, which is in reality, the New World Order. This Earth Hour is supposed to take place between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. local time around the world. Millions of people are expected to take part in this Earth Hour hype. About 70 per cent of Canadians are expected to take part in this mindless attempt to halt the exaggerated progression of Global Warming. Frankly, I am amazed on the amount of people who have bought into that exaggerated Global Warming Rhetoric. That is exactly what the UN is looking for, the kind of mindless conformity which will allow the New World Order to establish itself as the governing body of a global society. This will show the UN crowd how many people have bought into that global warming hype. Many Canadians across Canada plan to take part in this "Earth Hour" on Saturday which is supposed to remind people about global warming. I find it amazing how many people are so easily brainwashed to have bought into this Global Warming Rhetoric and its obvious, intentional exaggeration. But then again, with two billion people the world over who had bought into that apostate, perverted, lying Christian religion with its man-made god, that phony Je-Zeus Christ pagan myth, it is no great stretch of the imagination why people should not have bought into that Earth Hour hype, and the same type of mindless conformity that exercise represents. These people are likewise so easily deceived.

March 30th, 2008; This Sunday afternoon, it was such a nice day that I decided to visit friends at Temiskaming Lodge, but it was closed to visitors due to some kind of virus. When I got back home around 2PM I decided to pass the time watching some TV. Normally, I only watch the news and programs like the Fifth Estate, W5 and other informitive programs. The program I was watching on CTV was called; Twice In A Lifetime. I had never seen this program before and according to the TV program guide, it is about people getting a second chance to mend their ways after they had died. Each episode allows one person to go back to live again and change something in their past, with the aid of two guides: A Mr. Smith and a Judge Othniel who informs the person who had died, where they had gone wrong. I do not know what the title of that particular episode was, because I had missed the very begining of it. The episode seemed to be about a woman who smoked cigarettes. First they claimed that the woman had died because she smoked cigarettes. Later, in another part of the episode they claimed she had died of cancer due to her smoking cigarettes, but I recall the part near the beginning of the episode, the woman had died because she was struck down by a truck! So what kind of double talk is that? That kind of double talk I can expect coming from those Anti-smoking moron groups. Isn't it just like those morons who can't seem to get their story straight! I can see that some moron had a hand in that Twice In A Lifetime episode. I switched to CBC to see what was on their channel. They had the 2008 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, so I watched that instead.

It seems like that News story about a huge chunk of the South Pole ice shelf had collapsed and is threatening the Antarctic shelf, so claims British scientists. According to these scientists, it is one of the last great slabs of ice at the South Pole. The huge raft of ice 200-metre thick has cleaved off the Antarctic peninsula and smashed into thousands of icebergs. Satellite images had revealed the Ice Shelf had cracked apart and was in danger of disintegrating. The 200-metre thick shelf, called Larson B, was 3250 square kilometres, or double the size of greater London. The collapse was predicted by scientists but they were stunned by the size and speed of the event. It is believed that 500 billion tonnes of ice sheet has disintegrated in less than a month because of global warming. This event has no doubt given something more to talk about to those people who have believed in the UN global warming hype. We know that the Earth's climate and atmosphere has pretty well stabilised during the past thousands of years. We have come to assume that Earth's climate and atmosphere is supposed to be at a somewhat normal level. I believe these British scientists assume too much, given the little data we actually have on record about the Earth's climate and atmosphere. What data we do have actually represents only a small sliver of information, compared to the hundreds of thousands of years of our Earth's incredibly volatile climate and atmosphere. All of the scientists climate, atmosphere and weather models they have are based upon that small sliver of actual data they have on hand to work with. Anything beyond that is purely speculation at best. We really have little data on the Earth's climate to make the claim that global warming is spreading rapidly. We know that such ice sheets collapses are normal for the Arctic and Antarctic. The Larson A ice shelf had similarly collapsed in 1995, but was only two thirds as big. Don't forget that the Larson A ice shelf is 1800 years old, and was bound to break off at some point in time. This just happened to be the time for it to break off. If we are in a warming trend, it is only the natural progression of that climate change and there is nothing we can do about it, except to adapt to that change as best we can. As for the animals and various species that will be greatly effected by this climate change, they will also have to adapt or perish. It is as simple as that. Some species will survive and some will die off, that is a fact about the history of our planet. I understand that some scientists have already put into storage the DNA of several species that they believe will not survive any type of drastic climatic change and may become extinct in the process. Chances are that humanity will not be around to revive those extinct species from their DNA samples by the time the climate is once again suitable for these species.

March 31st, 2008; This is the end of March already, how quickly it had passed by. The weather today has warmed up to such a degree that the snow is starting to melt at last. Unfortunately, winter is yet not over, because there is a Winter storm warning for Kirkland Lake - New Liskeard and Temagami. The weather warning reads as followers;

HEAVY SNOW WITH BLOWING SNOW TONIGHT AND TUESDAY EXCEPT HEAVY RAIN OVER THE SAULT STE MARIE TO ELLIOT LAKE TO TEMAGAMI AREAS. THIS IS A WEATHER WARNING THAT DANGEROUS WINTER CONDITIONS ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. A DEVELOPING COLORADO LOW WILL CONTINUE TO HEAD NORTHEASTWARD TOWARDS THE GREAT LAKES BASIN TONIGHT WITH ABUNDANT MOIST GULF AIR BEING PUMPED INTO THIS WEATHER SYSTEM. SIGNIFICANT RAIN AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED OVER AREAS JUST NORTH OF LAKE HURON TONIGHT AND SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED FURTHER NORTH IN THE CHAPLEAU TO TIMMINS CORRIDOR TONIGHT AND TUESDAY. PRECIPITATION AHEAD OF THIS LOW HAS ALREADY BEGUN AS A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW WITH SOME ICE PELLETS. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO RAIN IN THE SAULT STE MARIE TO ELLIOT LAKE TO SUDBURY TO NORTH BAY AREAS TONIGHT AS THE HEAVIER PRECIPITATION REACHES THESE REGIONS NORTH OF LAKE HURON THIS EVENING. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL WILL AFFECT REGIONS FROM MANITOULIN ISLAND AND ELLIOT LAKE ACROSS THE NICKEL BELT TO NORTH BAY. THESE AREAS MAY SEE A TOTAL OF 50 TO 75 MILLIMETRES OF RAIN BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS THE LOW PRESSURE CENTRE PULLS EASTWARD INTO QUEBEC. THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE HEAVY RAIN AREA AND THE HEAVY SNOW AREA WILL BE VERY SHARP AND MOST LIKELY EXTEND FROM JUST NORTH OF SAULT STE MARIE TO NORTH OF ELLIOT LAKE TO JUST NORTH OF NEW LISKEARD DURING THE MOST INTENSE PERIOD OF THE PRECIPITATION TONIGHT. NORTH OF THIS BOUNDARY THE PRECIPTATION WILL FALL AS SNOW WITH THE MOST INTENSE PERIOD OF SNOW OCCURRING DURING THE DAY ON TUESDAY ESPECIALLY OVER THE CHAPLEAU TO TIMMINS AREAS. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 20 TO 30 CENTIMETRES ARE LIKELY THERE BY TUESDAY EVENING. IN ADDITION STRONG NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 40 KM/H WITH GUSTS TO 60 CAUSING REDUCED VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS THE LOW PULLS EASTWARD INTO QUEBEC. MOTORISTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO EXERCISE CAUTION DUE TO POOR DRIVING CONDITIONS DURING THE PASSAGE OF THIS STORM. PLEASE REFER TO THE LATEST PUBLIC FORECASTS FOR FURTHER DETAILS. Good advice. People will need to monitor weather conditions and see the latest weather updates.
