June 9th, 2008; After all the rainy weather we are having, it will be nice to have sunny days once again. People in southern Ontario had more stormy weather than we did. We only recived scattered showers in the past few days, but I hear that in southern Ontario, they had heavy rain, thunderstorms and high winds, along with reports of tornadoes which had battered parts of the region. A heat wave in Central Canada is blamed for all the severe weather that the southern part of Ontario is experiencing. Environment Canada expects this summer to be unusually warm, and with the heat comes the storms. Reports of torrential rains, baseball-sized hail, high winds and tornadoes have slammed the American Midwest, killing three people. Violent weather has plagued parts of Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Michigan since early Friday, leaving a path of massive destruction in its wake. I noticed on CTV.ca, a report on hate crime just came out very recently. According to the artical, published by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics, the most common motivating factors for hate crimes in Canada is based upon race and religion. The racial breakdown for racially motivated incidents in 2006 were offences against Blacks: 50 per cent. South Asians: 13 per cent, and Arabs or West Asians: 12 per cent. Out of the 892 hate-motivated crimes in 2006 that were reported by police, six in 10 were motivated by race and religion. 25 per cent of hate crimes were motivated by religion. Here is the breakdown of hate crimes reported to be motivated by religion: Offences against Jews: 63 per cent. Offences against Muslims: 21 per cent, and offences against Catholics: 6 per cent. The majority of hate crime were committed against homosexuals, based upon people's religion. Speaking about hate crime based upon people's religion.

June 11th, 2008; During the past few days, we had been getting a lot of scattered showers, though we did not get the thunderstorms as was predicted by the weather forecasters. This morning the temperature is around 9°C and I expect more showers are yet to come before the weather system passes and we will have sunny days. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is going to make a formal apology to the First Nation People in the House of Commons this afternoon on behalf of all Canadians. A formal apology by the government of Canada is necessary to the First Nation People who became the victims of the Christian residential school system in which the Government of Canada had played a major role in forcing native children to be uprooted from their homes and placed in Christian residential schools during their aboriginal integration programme which led to the abuse of a great many defenceless aboriginal children in their care. The Government had tuned a blind eye and deaf ear to the cries for help from the children and parents of the First Nation People. Investagations had pointed out that the Department of Indian Affairs had let the outrageous conduct by those Christians who had operated those institutions to go on for a hundred years. These church run institutions had perpetuated rampant physical, mental and sexual abuse by its priests, nuns and Christian co-workers upon the defenceless aboriginal children who were in their care, paid for by the taxpayers of Canada. For most of these aboriginal children, it was a horrid and bitter experience. These former aboriginal students had lived through a legacy of cruelty, trauma and cultural loss during the hundred years the Canadian Government had implemented its aboriginal integration programme. May something like this never happen again to anyone in Canada.

After the Maxime Bernier affair was exposed in the news media, it is an important issue which should concern all Canadians. It is a matter of national security. Maxime Bernier was sworn in as foreign affairs minister in August 2007 by the Harper government. Bernier was forced to resign his foreign affairs minister post on May 26th, 2008, hours before his ex-girlfriend Julie Couillard revealed he had left classified documents in her apartment in mid-April. Ms. Couillard had revealed that Mr. Bernier had left secret briefing documents at her Laval, Que., home for several weeks. It is plain to see that Bernier had been very careless with his documents. It has also been revealed through the Quebec news media LaPresse, that there had not been any security check made on Julie Couillard when she became involved with foreign affairs minister Maxime Bernier. Julie Couillard is found to have been associated with the underworld. She was sexually involved with people who were loan shark s, who were in biker gangs, Hell Angels leader Maurice (Mom) Boucher, and mafia figure Tony Volpato. It seems that Julie Couillard was "known" to police when she started dating Maxime Bernier while he was the foreign affairs minister. RCMP had alerted Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government to the fact that Julie Couillard had ties to Montreal's criminal underworld. The question is, how long did Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government know about this matter before it became known to the general public? Parliament's public safety committee began its hearings into the national security questions swirling around Mr. Bernier's relationship with Ms. Couillard. Former CSIS agent Michel Juneau-Katsuya told MPs that security checks on MPs and cabinet ministers are the "Achilles heel" of Canada's security system. While detailed checks are done on government employees, there is a double standard when it comes to checking the integrity, reliability and vulnerability of a politician before they have access to secret documents. Somewhere along the line, the Canadian government has fumbled the ball and have left a gaping hole in our national security system. As for that Julie Couillard woman, she now has the gull to say she feels destroyed and her name has been dragged through the mud which has ruined her reputation and integrity? Given the known facts about this women, what reputation and integrity is Ms.Couillard talking about? Give me a break!

I have to give credit where credit is due to our Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. He is the first Canadian Government to have delivered a formal apology in the House of Commons today to say that the Goverment of Canada is deeply sorry to former students of the government's implementation of its aboriginal integration programme which forced aboriginal children to be placed in those Christian residential schools where they had been physical, mental and sexual abuse by its priests, nuns and Christian co-workers. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was surrounded by aboriginal leaders and residential school survivors during his apology in the House of Commons. Stephen Harper stated in the House of Commons today that; "The treatment of children in Indian residential schools is a sad chapter in our history. Today, we recognize that this policy of assimilation was wrong, has caused great harm, and has no place in our country. The government now recognizes that the consequences of the Indian residential schools policy were profoundly negative and that this policy has had a lasting and damaging impact on aboriginal culture, heritage and language". Some aboriginal leaders and former students who had attended had wept as the Prime Minister spoke those long awaited words which needed to be said.

These Christian institutions and their religion have a legacy of causing much harm to people throughout the entire world ever since its conception. Frankly, if I had my way, I would drive out and ban that religion from Canada where we no longer have to deal with their atrocities, lies and deceptions. Next in line, I would give the boot to Islam, another religion with a legacy of cruelty and murdering people, who is wanting to take over Canada and force Canadians to be Muslems and be under their rule. Enough with their ridiculous, fraudulent religious ideologies. We can be a tolerant people, but we do not have to be stupid about it either.

June 13th, 2008; This morning we have more of that light rain again. By noon, the rain was replaced by warm, humid sunny weather. It seems that criminal charges have been laid against 13 people and 11 companies who are accused of fixing the price of gas in Quebec, according to the federal Competition Bureau. The suspects and companies operated in Victoriaville, Thetford Mines, Magog and Sherbrooke. Three companies and one person have already pleaded guilty at a Quebec Superior Court in Victoriaville on Thursday to related charges. The companies, which included Ultramar Ltd., face up to $2 million in fines in total. This sends a clear message that the Competition Bureau will take action to stop price fixers whenever there is evidence that people have broken the law," bureau commissioner Sheridan Scott told a news conference in Montreal. Price-fixing is a fraud against consumers.

The USA is sure getting hammered in the last few days with the kind of weather they are having lately. Floodwaters in Wisconsin had ripped several homes from their foundations after a stormy weekend in the Midwest that was blamed for up to 10 deaths. Torrential rains, baseball-sized hail, high winds and tornadoes had slammed the region over the weekend, forcing road closures, evacuations, power outages, flight cancellations and even hospital ward closures. The severe weather has effected parts of Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Michigan, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. There was flooding at eight sites in central and southern Indiana which had reached record levels. Severe thunderstorm warning are in effect for the region. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for south-central Illinois. A twister ripped through a Little Sioux Scout Camp in the remote Loess Hills of western Iowa in the middle of the night, leaving a path of destruction and debris in its wake. In addition to four deaths, 48 people were injured. Officials are searching the camp grounds for other storm victims. What a sad situation these people are in.

June 14th, 2008; Well Journal, last night it had started to rain again, though this morning we had a light drizzle but that had ended by five AM. We have tempatures of 18°C and is partly cloudy now. We are expecting the tempature to rise to 24°C and have a humid day. In the wake of government cutbacks, high unemployment rates, bankruptcies and crumbling social support systems, food banks have become a saving grace for many. It is good to know that there are dedicated and caring people who support Food banks. Food banks are run largely by volunteers, like Pat Wilson, who runs a Food Bank here in Haileybury with other volunteers who are mostly elderly people. Everybody needs help sometimes, and dropping some dry goods groceries in a Food Bank box, a little bit here and there, it all adds up. There are hungry people in every community who need a helping hand. Food banks have benefited from partnerships with the generosity of corporations, neighbourhood companies, small business owners, various social clubs and associations along with other people to fill the food bank containers in grocery stores, fire halls and other places all across Canada. But food banks do need money for administrative costs to keep them going to serve the people who relie on the services provided by food banks. Food banks also relie heavily on the co-operation of the media to get the message out to people. Unfortunately, there are those people who take advantage of the generosity of people and really abuse the system. Despite the high cost of everything, mostly because major oil companies are gouging everybody, the response from people is still overwhelming generous in every communities all across Canada. We have a lot of great unsung heroes and good people here in Canada. Acts of kindness like this gives hope that all is not totally lost. There is still a glimmer of hope for humanity.

June 15th, 2008; This morning it is a bright sunny day. Weather forecats is calling for a 70% chance of thunder- showers for our local area. Right now there are only variable clouds in the sky. I must take Buddy out for his walk now, while it is still sunny outside. I was greatly surprised to hear in the news that a mother is suspected of killing her own daughter. I recall hearing about that 12-year-old girl who was reported missing from the parking lot of a grocery store in the town of Bridgewater, N.S., last February. The 12-year-old girl had an argument with her mother and had left the vehical while the mother was shopping. Her body was later found by a passer-by on the banks of the LaHave River, located just south of the town. It appears that police officers must have recived some new revelation which has surfaced during police investagation. Penny Boudreau, the girls mother has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of her daughter. I recall how Penny Boudreau had shedded tears as she pleaded on TV for the safe return of her 12-year-old daughter. It is hard to believe that she is involved with her daughters death. To think that the girls mother might have killed her own daughter! What in the world had that little girl done, for a mother to have killed her own child. I really can't see that having an argument with her mother, the child deserve to have been murdered for it.

It seems there is a raging bush fire that is out of control in a heavily wooded area about 35 kilometres east of Halifax. About 4,000 people in the Carter Roman subdivision, Beach Breeze Estates, and Haylings Acres areas near Porters Lake have been forced to leave their homes because of the bush fire. Two homes have already been destroyed and three others were damaged by the fire, which has been raging for the past 24 hours. No one has been hurt. The fire is about three kilometres wide and is 15 kilometres long. It is being fanned by strong winds. With all the scattered showers we are having in our local area, that is one thing we do not have to worry about. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for our area, we can expect some more rain and scattered showers during the entire week.

Pakistan officials says a U.S. air strike had killed 11 of its soldiers and wounded at least 10 others at a remote frontier post, late Tuesday evening. U.S. led forces called in for air support to repel an attack in the area. US troops were fighting militants at that time. Richard Boucher, a U.S. State Department official, said a joint probe on this incident was to ensure that it didn't happen again between the two close allies. Where have I heard that before. It seems like the American Air Force have a real knack for attacking the wrong group of people. Ask our own Canadians troops about that. Those US pilots seem to have a knack for that sort of thing. Pakistan officials has lodged a protest with NATO over the strike.

I managed to have time to watched one of my favourite TV programs today. The topic on Market Place, on CBC TV was about those Q-Ray bracelets. I have seen those Q-Ray bracelets being advertised on TV, magazines and on the radio. I had always wondered if they really worked. Those Q-Ray bracelets are the one's with a spiral stainless steel wire, like a tow or aircraft cable, and the bracelet is capped with a pair of metal beads. They are supposed to be ionized, (electricly charged) and cause better blood flow and take away pain from arthritis. Well Market Place got one of those Q-Ray bracelets, and had it tested in an electronics lab. The lab results found that these Q-Ray bracelets could not hold any kind of an electric charge at all. All the claims made by the manufacturer and distributor were phoney. One can make a Q-Ray type of bracelet for a dollar and get the same placebo effects as those expensive Q-Ray bracelets. I fact, any kind of bracelet, be it copper, stainless steel, wood, plastic or fabric would do just as well, if someone believes it will help. A person can place their faith and trust on anything and if they believe it will heal them, they will get the same results. It is simply a matter of the power of mind over matter. Some people are better at it than others. One thing Market Place had shown, was how gullible some people can be to shell out bundles of money for a Q-Ray bracelet, when it is only worth a dollar or less. I am not surprised by that, when one see's how many people are that stupid and gullible to believe and shell out bundles of money to those shysters. Yes, that old saying about there is a sucker born every day holds true today, as it did in days gone by. Thank you Market Place for your very informative program.

June 16th, 2008; This morning it is a real nice sunny day although the forecast is calling for a 70% chance of rain later on in the day. The day will remain warm. This year, I have decided to take a summer holiday leave. The canoe, camping gear, tractor and Buddy are all ready to go and hit the trail. But during the past few days, it had been raining quite a lot, making walking through the bush like walking through a shower. So it looks like I will have to hold off on that summer holiday leave untill things dry up a bit. So I spent the afternoon being a voulenteer, helping residents at Temiskaming Lodge, on their regular Mall shoping outing. It is good for them to get out to the Malls. It is a nice change for them and gives them the opptunity to get personal items they may want or need. We all had a nice day of it and the residents at the Lodge really appreciate it. It would have been a perfect day, at least for me, except for one incident which had marred that day. I had always assumed that Wall Mart had informed its employees to be courteous and helpful to its customers. I had been to Wall Mart on many occasions and found the employees to be very courteous and helpful. But on this day, I ran into one bad apple out of the bunch. While the driver of the big passenger van was wanting to pull up to the entrance of Wall Mart, to pick up our passengers, elderly people, a Wall Mart employee had pulled up his long string of shopping carts with his motorized pusher, in front of the entrance where our driver wanted to park. He proceeded without batting an eye, to grab a small section of shopping carts and began to wheel them into the store. When the employee returned for another load, I ask the man if he would not mind to move those carts ahead so the passenger van can load its passengers on board. The guy look at me with a dirty look and said he can not, that it would not move. He then proceeded to take another small section of shopping carts and wheel them into the store, this time taking his sweet time about it, while our driver and passengers stood there waiting. When the Wall Mart employee finally returned to pick up another load, I went over to the man to get his name and told him I would report this to the manager. He shrugged and gave me another dirty look and took another bunch of carts and pushed them into the store. When he got back, there was only one cart left with his motorized pusher and he proceeded to take that into the store. Unfortunately, I was now too busy helping to load the passengers into the van. By the time we were finished, we were already running late and had to take off. I do not know when the next time I will get into New Liskeard again, but I intend to see the manager about this rude incident I had encountered with that Wall Mart employee.

June 18th, 2008; I hear that Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Hamas/Fath groups, have begun a six-month truce which takes in effect this morning. Egypt negotiated the truce after a year of deadly fighting between Israel and the various Palestinian groups. Even as the deadline for the start of the truce was winding down, Palestinians shot off rockets and mortars into Israel. Under the truce, Israel will ease its blockade of the area, which will no doubt ease the pressure which has driven Gaza residents deeper into poverty. The truce consists of; Israel will gradually ease its blockade, starting by allowing larger amounts of supplies into Gaza. After a week of no fighting, Israel will ease cargo crossing restrictions. In the last stage of this truce, negotiators will seek to reopen the border passage between Gaza and Egypt, and try to secure the release of an Israeli soldier held captive for two years. This truce was necessary for the Palestinians. The Palestinians knew very well that Israel was ready to go into Gaza on an all out Israeli offensive. This truce will no doubt give the Palestinian terrorists time to replenish its much needed food, supplies, arms and ammunition during this temporary truce, particularly in Gaza, in light of an all out Israeli offensive. While all this is going on, in the background, away from the spotlight, Hamas TV is broadcasting a training video that teaches its people how to kidnap IDF soldiers.

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion revealed his party's carbon tax plan this morning in connection with their "Global Warming" hype. New taxes are expected to generate about $15.4 billion annually in revenue in four years. But the Liberals say their plan will be revenue neutral because it will cut income taxes and increase family support payments. As I have stated, The proposed carbon tax will hit electricity, heating fuel and everything we buy. The Conservatives held a press conference Thursday afternoon to outline their criticisms in detail. Prime Minister Harper and Alberta MP Jason Kenney are fully aware the new taxes on jet fuel, diesel, and home heating will hurt average Canadians and raise the cost of living. The NDP also rejects that carbon tax. Canadians are going to need to do their own homework and see if they will be winners or losers on this one. As for Stephane Dion claim that people who disagree with his far fetched carbon tax plan, that they are liars and twist the facts. Really? I can only reflect back on the Liberal's track record which got them into hot water because of their corruption infested party, and had lost the creditability of the majority of Canadians.

History has already shown that Carbon Caps is a Failed Policy. Under a cap-and-trade program, the government sets an overall emissions cap and issues tradable allowances that grant businesses the right to emit a set amount. Those who can reduce their emissions more cheaply are able to sell extra allowances to others who would otherwise have to pay more to comply. Under a carbon tax, emitters are required to pay a tax for every ton of pollution they emit. The system is inherently more complex than what people are led to believe. It requires both monitoring and enforcement to determine taxable emissions and to guarantee payment in the case of a tax, or to ensure that allowances match overall emissions in the case of cap-and-trade. Another UN "Big Brother" is watching you, scenario. Lets take a look at Europe's energy utilities which receive carbon permits, they have passed the market price of the permits on to industry and consumers, giving themselves a windfall at others' expense. In many parts of the EU, carbon-related energy costs rose by almost $9.2 billion in 2005, a price tag that is expected to double in the next couple of years. The EU cap-and-trade experience has exposed many weaknesses. Since, the EU massively overallocated the number of permits. This resulted in a carbon credits price crash in April 2006. Instead of reducing emissions, businesses took advantage of the newly created market to make money. Existing emitters were given carbon permits based on the size of their carbon emissions, blunting incentives to cut back. This unintended consequence has made big business one of the biggest beneficiaries of the EU's cap-and-trade scheme.

After Liberal Leader Stephane Dion unveiled his "green shift" plan, he said that if a country like Canada doesn't do its share, we'll fail the world. This statement is in relation to his controversial carbon tax proposal which has to do with Canada's ecological future. I can recall that I had worked out strategies to place Canada in the forefront in matters concerning its future, some thirty odd years ago, when all this ecological "Global Warming/Climate Change", high fuel prices and NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) were not even discussed. Long before Canada started to loose most of its manufacturing due to NAFTA and Globalization. But Canadians were not the least bit interested at that time, what I had presented. Canadians were so mesmerized chasing after the gloss and glitter of the politicians fools gold. At that time, I knew full well where Canada was heading towards. It was only a matter of time when NAFTA was initially pursued by politicians in the United States and Canada who were pushing the UN free trade agenda, led by that traitor, the then Canadian Prime Minister Brian Baloney (Mulroney), U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari. The three countries signed NAFTA on December 1992, NAFTA came into effect on January 1, 1994. I recall that I had presented to people some thirty odd years ago, a New World Order system that was far different than the one that the UN and the Globalization crowd are presenting to people now. So I think I have a little knowledge of what Stephane Dion is talking about and plans to do. His "green shift" plan, and no doubt controversial carbon tax proposal is going to fail miserably and the one who is going to be left holding that bag of debt for years to come, will be the taxpayers of Canada. By then, Stephane Dion will be gone and his bright carbon tax plan will have been relegated to the Liberal trash heap.

With all the hype about global warming, perpetuated by Al Gore, the United Nations, David T. Suzuki, environmental groups and Stephane Dion warning people about the imminent threat which will be disastrous to our wildlife and environment. Now a new paper was published recently by the Astronomical Society of Australia, which claims that we are about to go into a Global cooling phase. This is based upon some kind of changes in the sun's activity, which will significantly diminish sometime in the next decade and remain low for about 20 to 30 years. On each occasion that the Sun has done this in the past, the World’s mean temperature had dropped by 1° or 2°C. In other words, good old "Earth" will be in a cooling cycle for the next 20 to 30 years. It seem that Dion will need another hook to latch onto for his political campaign. It appears that Canadians are no longer buying Dion’s carbon tax platform. A resent poll by the Globe and Mail shows that the number of Canadians who think that the environment is the number one issue has fallen to third place, with the high cost of gasoline and the economy generally overtaking it. The environment was first place on people's list last year. Only 16% of the people who were polled now consider the environment as the number one issue.

The long term weather forecast calls for more rain for the entire week in our local area. So it looks like I will not be going away on that long awaited summer holiday yet. though I think I will soon give myself a break from this web site.

June 25th, 2008; Dear Journal; This morning I went to the Temiskaming Hospital for my post op examine and get that clear plastic patch removed which covered my right eye. Yesterday, I had the cataractic crystalline lens removed from my right eye and replaced it with a Amo Intraocular lens. This task was done by Dr. K Sales, who had already did that kind of surgery for my left eye last year. Thanks to the skill of Dr. K Sales, and the operating room staff at the Temiskaming Hospital, which I think is one of the finest Hospitals I have ever been in. It almost seem's unreal what our dedicated doctors can accomplish with the technology we have today. Just a short hundred or even fifty years ago, this kind of operation would have been impossible to do, and people would have to live with having their vision severely impaired or being blinded because of having cataracts forming on their crystallline lens. Now I can see clearly in both eyes, which I am extremely grateful to all those people who made this possible. I can hardly wait to get out in my canoe and pick up my brush and paint some wonderful landscapes we have here in North-eastern Ontario, with the new set of lens I have received. I thank GOD for having the good fortune to be a Canadian, with the kind of health care system we have in Canada. Though I am concerned that we as Canadians, are loosing, little by little, some of our GOD given basic human rights and freedoms through policies our federal, provincial and municipal governments have enacted. Human rights and freedoms that our Canadian men and women had once experienced and had so bravely faught for in the two Wold Wars. Anyway, despite this chipping away of our Rights and Freedoms, on this Canada Day, I still have a great deal to be thankful for. Happy Canada Day, one and all.

My Canada

My Canada, my home and gracious adopted land
True patriots we are, we hold our nation in our hands
We stand on guard, oh Canada, so mighty strong and true
With loving hearts, we stand on guard; we stand on guard for you.

Oh Canada, my heart goes forever out to thee
We salute you, Oh Canada, so glorious and free
One nation under the true GOD we stand
You are our home and native land

I proudly stand before my Canadian flag
The land of the brave, the strong and the free
Our home of peace, hospitality and security,
My Canada, a land of triumph, hope and dreams

My Canada, land of the North, strong and free
We stand together, from shining sea to sea
My Canada, a land full of grand opportunities
May we all live in peace and tranquillity

June 29th, 2008; I have decided to take that summer holiday break now, So I will sign off and will be back in the late fall. Hope everyone has a nice summer. Enjoy. Now, I am going to enjoy the peace and quiet nature offers me.

Please note; I have noticed over some time now, that I have been doing a lot of talking about GOD and religion on My Personal Journal pages. That was not my original intention, but it seems that I just can't get away from that subject. I had decided it would be more appropriate to moved all topics I had made concerning GOD and religion in My Personal Journal pages, to the section called; GOD, Religion and the Bible where those topics really belong on this web site. You can find this section on the Town of Hailrybury Main Index Page.
