Police divers have found the body after a snowmobile and rider went down in open water overnight Saturday around Mowatt's Landing in Barr Township on the Montreal River, west of Haileybury. Police say the driver attempted to cross the open water shortly before 3 a. m. A second rider watched as he made the attempt, and called police when the first rider didn't make it. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were called on Sunday, according to an OPP news release. Police identified the driver of the snow machine as Chris Cowton, 33, of Haileybury. Running open water is where a snowmobile operators attemps to cross open water at very high speed without sinking. Police will charge any snowmobilers with careless driving under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act who are caught running open water. The snowmobile operators not only place themselves in real danger, they also place rescuers and emergency personnel who respond to the scene at great risk as well. Police will strictly enforce the law against anyone operating a snowmobile while intoxicated. A large number of people had to be rescued this winter. People cannot last long when they fall into icy waters. Most hydroelectric facilities are remotely controlled by operators who may be kilometers away. To meet the fluctuating demand for electricity throughout the day, these operators open or close dams or start or stop generators as needed. This causes frequent and rapid changes in the water flow and levels often creating strong undertows, turbulence and sudden, powerful gushes of water moving downstream in what was once calm looking surface water. All waterways where an OPG dam or hydroelectric station is located have well-positioned warning signs, buoys, fences, booms and barriers. OPP Police urge everyone to obey these warning signs and barriers. They are there for the public's safety and to let everyone know that the areas around the signs are dangerous, so stay clear.

An Ontario police officer says drivers will get real angry over the new smoking law forbidding smoking in a vehicle while carrying a minor. It's only a matter of time before someone "snaps" after being pulled over under Ontario's new no smoking law in a vehicle carrying a minor. People got mad enough when they couldn't smoke in restaurants, bars, bingo parlors and in stores. Now you're telling them they can't smoke in their own cars. At some point somebody's going to "snap" along the way here. That should comes as a surprise to anyone? When people feel their freedom and rights are being trampled and violated? This is going to become a human-rights issue for people who smoke. People are being pushed too far on this whole smoking issue. Ontario had previously banned smoking in all enclosed public places and workplaces before the new legislation took effect late last month. Unfortunately, it will be the police officers who will feel the brunt of a smoker's wrath when they are given a ticket for smoking in their own vehicles. This is going to cause a lot of resentment and make our police officers very unpopular among people who do smoke. Since the no smoking bans came into effect, I have not gone to restaurants, cinemas, theaters, bingo parlors, bars, bowling and pool halls, sporting events, social gatherings and functions. I am restricted to my own appartment where I can socialize with fellow smokers because of those no smoking bans our governments have imposed upon us through those Anti-Smoking MORONS! That is something our guys and gals who fought and died for our rights and freedon in the two world wars did not have to contend with. They lived at a time when there were no no-smoking bans. Least we forget! This country is slowly turning into a communist state, weither we like it or not!

A woman was killed when she was driving her white Cadillac coupe through an intersection in Surrey BC. The woman was gunned down, execution style, while driving with a little boy in the back seat. The woman was caught in a hail of bullets in Surrey, which left the 4-year-old boy traumatized, but otherwise unharmed. The little boy was safely taken into care by police. Police blocked off a large portion of the area and homicide investigators were on the scene looking for witnesses. No one has been arrested and police released no other details about the shooting. There has been an epidemic of drug gang gun violence in every major city in Canada. Illicit drugs are becoming the largest cash crop in Canada. It is a multi billion dollar industry and where you find drugs and money, you find gangs, and where you find gangs, you find violence and gun crimes. This was Surrey's second shooting on Monday morning. Police were already looking for witnesses following a shooting outside a strip club in the Whalley neighborhood. Two men and two women were in a Range Rover when somebody opened fire on the vehicle, wounding a man in the shoulder. All of these shooting are believed to be drug gang related. Maybe if our politicians focused more on the illicit drug gang problem rather than harassing people who smoke tobacco and finding ways to invent all those bans, something would be done with this growing problem. Good thing we have all those gun laws, regulations and restrictions that are in place today. I wonder if any of those gang members had taken the Canadian Firearms Safety Course tests, and applied for their Possession and Acquisition License so that they can use their firearms?

Now there are Canadian cultural groups like ACTRA and the CCA who want Canada's broadcast regulator to wade into the realm of the Internet, as the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on Tuesday kicked off a series of hearings investigating the issue. What is the reason these groups want to regulate the Internet? They claim that "inaction could mean our stories will get lost and our culture will drown in a sea of non-Canadian content". Hogwash! If I want Canadian content, all I have to do is Goggle for it. Keep your regulator paws off the Internet! We are already swamped and drowning in a sea of regulations, without adding more of the same. We need to de-regulate our over-regulated society. There are already so much regulations, its impossible to keep track of them. Regulate the Internet? Hell NO!!! Keep the Internet open and free of regulations, as it was intended to be.

Speaking about adding more regulations, now Doctors want governments to add more regulations. This time regulations for the weight loss industry. How many more regulations are we going to end up with in our already over regulated society? Instead of adding more regulations, why not just inform the public why many weight loss products like pills, herbs and some private clinics fail to deliver on their promises and let the public decide for themselves, if they want to waste their money on those products and services. Most people are already aware that diet pills, various diet potions, diets and programs promising miraculous weight loss are full of nonsense, and do nothing to help loose weight.

Feb. 18th, 2009. This morning light snow is falling with mild tempatures around the -5°C mark. Winds are from the south, blowing around 20km/h, making it feel like it is -12°C. According to weather forecasters, we can expect for it to snow all day today and tomorrow. Here is an update on that piece of rocket debris that had hit the Earth atmosphere yesterday. While the space garbage dump continues to be orbiting around the Earth, we are now informed that the large piece of space debris that was heading towards the city of Calgary, was in fact a meteorite, the size of a bus, that people saw streaking across the sky as a bright light. We find out now that by the time people got any warning at all, it would have been too late to avert any kind of danger. Had that meteorite struck Earth in a populated area, it would have killed an untold number of people. What if that meteorite measured a mile across, streaking towards Earth, we see now that we can not depend upon our governments and its warning systems to warn people in time to avert a major catastrophe. One second people are blithely going about their business, the next second, BOOM!, people are dead everywhere. So much for our advance warning systems, huh? What a false sense of security people have been led to believe in.

According to a CTV News Report, Peter and Peggy Rigo, pastors at the Dominion Christian Centre of Canada in Hamilton, Ont., had its charitable status revoked after a government audit found donations were being used to fund gym memberships, personal trips and private vehicles. The Canada Revenue Agency says it had warned the church with an official notice on Dec. 30, 2008 that it intended revoke the organization's charitable registration because the audit "revealed serious issues of non-compliance". The organization's assets were being misused for the private benefit of the church's directors. It also accused the church of issuing official donation receipts that contained incorrect or false information. Receipts transactions that did not qualify as gifts, and on many occasions had failed to properly establish the fair market value of property received which, in several cases, was significantly "inflated". The church, was described as a "spirit-filled, bible-based, non-denominational" church on its website. It was established in 2000 by Pastors Peter and Peggy Rigo. I bet they are not the only Christian church who are doing this, they just happened to get caught in the Canada Revenue Agency audit net. We hear of scandals erupted within the various competing religions about the misuse of money, on illicit sexual activity and other moral flaws like materialism. Donation funds are being spent on luxuries items, such as very expensive homes and its furnishings, diamond rings and other expensive jewelry and wardrobes, limousine rides, first-class seats on airlines and dining in very expensive restaurants, vacationing in first-class exotic resorts and entertainment expenses using their religious organization credit cards for such expenses. So much for the honesty of Christians, and their churches, huh? Like I had always stated, Christianity is a real money making racketeering business. Giving people a false hope and misleading people with fraudulent information about Christianity and its many bogus claims. There are enough stupid and gullible people to buy into that phony religion and support these "Holy" shysters. Shut down one of these fraudulent ministries, and five will come along to take its place. That is the reason why there are so many of these "Christian" ministries that are cropping up all the time.

According to a recent CBC News Report, trees from tropical forests are getting bigger and absorbing almost a fifth of all the carbon dioxide that is being emitted in the world, according to a new study. Researchers studied data collected between 1968 and 2007 from 79 intact forest areas in 20 countries across the world. They found that on average, trees soaked up 4.8 billion tones of carbon per year, significantly more than had been expected. In the meantime, we are cutting trees at an alarming rate all across the world. As trees are being depleted due to events like wildfires or deforestation, the rate at which trees in forests grow eventually equals the rate at which they are taken out of the ecological system, the state of equilibrium is that carbon absorption in our atmosphere is decreasing. The researchers say their study demonstrates why tropical rainforests should be conserved. All the more reason why predominantly rich polluting countries should be saving and planting trees were deforestation has occurred. Why countries with tropical forests need to reduce its deforestation rates and promote alternative logging practices.

During the spring session of the Ontario legislature, the Liberal government is preparing to bring in a deficit budget and a Green Energy Act that it hopes will transform the province's ailing economy and create 50,000 new jobs. Premier Dalton McGuinty has warned the province he will not tolerate objections to the creation of green energy projects such as "wind turbines" and solar panel farms as he looks to put idled manufacturing plants back on line to create jobs. Premier Dalton McGuinty stated that he cannot allow small groups and individual municipalities to stand in the way of our greater public interest in good jobs, cleaner electricity and assuming our responsibility in the face of climate change. I think that Premier Dalton McGuinty strong stance to push the production of "wind turbines" despite what Ontarians may think, is worrisome, to say the least. People are already aware of the problems "wind turbines" have on people who live close to those things, not to mention the devastating effect wind turbines will have on birds and wildfowl such as ducks and swans during their migration flights. Their lack of ability to see the propellers turning mean that the birds can fly straight into the blades with devastating effects. It is also well known that people have complained that the propellers can generate high levels of noise, enough to keep people awake at night and spook animals such as horses, cattle and sheep. People have also found that these wind turbines can generate low frequency sounds that can actually make people feel sick and, in worse case scenario, even kill people. People who live up to a mile away from a wind turbine farm have complained the low level noise cause then substantive stress and ill health. So far, wind turbines has had mixed reception from local residents, and local MP's about having these in their communities. No wonder Premier Dalton McGuinty is taking such a tough stance not to allow small groups and individual municipalities to stand in the way of building wind turbine farms. The downside to McGuinty's strong stance is that it may very well cause a backlash on him during an election. I would think that Premier Dalton McGuinty would focus more on solar panel farms which have none of those problems associated with wind turbines. Can you imagine if every house roof in Ontario were covered with solar panels, which is clean, noiseless and hazardless to birds, this type of electric power would generate and contribute to the hydro grid? These solar panel systems would not need batteries for back-up, because they can feed off the hydro grid during times when the solar panels can not generate electric power. The potential to create more manufacturing industries to produce enough solar panels to meet the demand from people all across Canada, and the installation of these panels on home roofs is far more enormous of a job creation progran for Canadians than wind turbine farms. A national east-west hydro grid line would create more jobs and also secure Canada's hydro needs in future years. Something our politicians should be thinking about.

The OPP Commemorative Patrol has arrived at Moosonee after having traveled over 1,000 kilometres by rail, snowshoe and dogsled, stopping at the sites of the OPP’s earliest outposts to educate the public about the force’s early Northern Ontario history. OPP Constables Erik Howells and Guy Higgott are the officers on the patrol, which began in Hearst on February 1st, 2009 and will take them by dogsled, snowshoe and rail to Moosonee and then back to Cochrane by Feb. 21st. 2009.
