Guns and Canadian Gun Laws

I am a person who travels a lot alone in the wilderness by canoe and on foot. Trying to buy and keep a rifle just to have some protection from wild animals who may want to attack me is proving to be very difficult these days with all the regulations, gun laws and gun registry programs that are on the legislation books. I had lost my long guns (rifles) during a canoe mishap in which my guns are now at the bottom of a very deep lake. Recently, I wanted to buy a 12 gauge single shot shotgun or one of those over and under 22 cal/410 ga. combination survival rifle to pack with me on my wilderness canoe trips. In order to obtain one of these guns, I would have had to spend around $150.00 to $200.00 on what is required by regulations to obtain such a rifle. Just to meet the regulations would have cost me more than what it would cost to buy a good second-hand long gun. I hope that people like me who spend most of their time in the wilderness will be able to buy a rifle (long gun) and register it with little fuss and expense. The Harper government, which has been trying to abolish the federal gun registry, says long gun owners now have until May 2008 to register their weapons. The move is being applauded by firearms advocates who have opposed the registry for years. I think that the present Conservative government has realized that the firearms control system is a big failure. Created in 1995, by the Liberal Government, the gun registry program soared in costs for a host of reasons. A 2002 report by the auditor-general found it had cost the federal government, and taxpayers, 1 billion dollars. CTV News first learned in February 2006 of the Conservative government's plans to gut the gun registry program by granting an amnesty to rifle and shotgun owners. They're buying time to make a major change in firearms control that makes sense, said David Tomlinson, president of the National Firearms Association, to CTV News. The Conservatives are giving hundreds of thousands of long gun owners in Canada a reprieve, exempting them from having to obtain licenses for another year, CTV News has learned. These days, things are very confused with what is going on with gun control laws and registry program. You can't keep up with all the changes that have been made ever since the gun laws and registry program began. We need a clear public understanding on owning, purchacing and registering long guns. As for myself and long gun owners, we are really confused about it all. Things have gotten so complicated that I am not the least surprised that the average person who wants to buy or already own a rifle (long gun) have failed to understand the long gun licensing and registry legislation. I hope the government will come up with a simple and easy firearms control system that any person can understand and not make it hard to buy and register a rifle (long gun).

W-5; A top notch TV Program.

Saturday April 14, 2007. Watching the CTV program W-5 this evening shed some new light on the killings of a Canadian Family in Mexico. W-5 investigation team had taken the time, the effort and the expence to find out the truth behind the investigation by the Mexican police on the murder case of Dominic and Anunziata Ianiero. They were murdered in Mexico while attending a wedding for their daughter Lily, who were staying at a five star hotel called the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, just south of Cancun. The W5 investigation team has exonerated the Ianiero family, and Kimberly Kim and Cheryl Everall of any wrong doing on their part. The Mexican Police accuse Kimberly Kim and Cheryl Everall of being their main suspects for the murders of Dominic and Anunziata Ianiero. During the W-5 investigation, they have at the same time exposed the lies and corruption within the Mexican police force. Which is very unfortunate for those Mexican police officers who are trying to do what is right and remain honest. As for our Canadian government, both Cheryl Everall and Kimberly Kim and the Ianieros feel let down by the Department of Foreign Affairs. The women are still clinging to the hope that their government will help clear their names. And the Ianieros, who can only hope for an open, vigorous and transparent investigation, feel betrayed by officials who continue to stick to the mantra that there is little they can do. Foreign Affairs says it must allow due process to occur and that they have confidence in the Mexican police investigation. Thank you W-5 for your in-dept investigation on this murder case and for a program I consider to be within the top five programs of excellence on my list.

Shooting massacre at Virginia Tech

The tragic news on Monday, April 18th/2007 hit the airways when a gunman had killed at least 30 people at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia before he had fatally shot himself. It is purported to be the deadliest shooting spree in U.S. history. A professor who has emerged as one of the tragic heroes of this week's shooting massacre is professor Librescu, who died while trying to barricade the door of his classroom and protect his students. He was one of the 32 people who was killed by the gunman Cho Seung-Hui. Professor Librescu was buried today in Israel in a traditional Jewish funeral. Reasons why this tragic event ever happened are many. Some people say that the shooter was just crazy. Other people will put the blame on those violent video games children have come to grow up with. Other people will put the blame on the religion of the shooter because he was a follower of Islam. Other people will put the blame on the moral decay of our soceity. And no doubt other people will put the blame on people having access to guns and want to put a ban on all guns. I can not help wonder if the shooter would have gunned down these people had those good people had been able to defend themselves with their own guns? The gunman Cho Seung-Hui knew very well that the people he was about to kill would not be armed and were unable to protect themselves as he committed his evil deed. He knew full well that the people he was going after had no weapons of their own. A coward will always take advantage of a situation like this where he can kill unarmed people. Be they in public schools, convenient stores, gas stations or in a privet home. Common sense will tell anyone that all the rules and regulations in the world, including having a police force will not prevent a crime from being committed. All anyone can do when people can not protect themselves is to pick up the pices after a crime had been commited. Something to think about.

Doing Away with Canada's Bill of Rights

These people "Restore Marriage, Canada!" came out with an artical, (artical listed below). While they do not mention that the people who are behind this artical are mostly Christians. This artical is being pasted on many Christian groups across the USA and is giving the false impression that this artical was a big, major headline news story that went right across Canada. That story made such big headlines here in Canada, I had somehow missed it. You would think that I would have heard about it being that it was suppose to be such a "big" news event here in Canada. So I checked with our Canadian major News media to get some detail on this “Big” news item. The results I got for the news item; "Canada apologize for gay marrige", came up empty. All I got in my advanced search for this news item was: No news articles were found. You have reached this page because your search request returned no Matches. I got this message on the major Canadian News Madia archives. But according to the article below, which had pasted this artical which is behind this group mostly consist of Christians by this "Restore Marriage, Canada!" oraganization. behind this group mostly consist of Christians by this "Restore Marriage, Canada!" oraganization.

According to these people, they are warning all gay people with this threat; "Don't insult our power. Gay marriage is immoral, wrong and evil.  We will always fight to stop this. "In the USA we have stopped Same-Sex-Marriage in its track, by going out in droves protesting it and voting it down every time. We have plans to slowly get this happening in other conservative, Republican states."

Restore Marriage Canada, which is a project of United Families Canada, which is the Canadian affiliate of United Families International which made it look like the artical below was a major news story that had splashed the front pages on all the Canadian News Media across Canada. What I did find out searching the web, that a great many Christian web sites in the USA have got this story made to look like it was a major news story across Canada. That was not quite the case. I wonder if this is just another one of those deceiving tactics Christians often use employ to deceive people into thinking that this issue has the support of the majority of Canadians? Here is the artical posted from Restore Marriage, Canada.

Restore Marriage, Canada!

Grant Hill former MP is keeping with Conservative party tradition and apologizing to the world for Canada’s decision to legalize same sex marriage.

An Apology to the World

To the world's leaders and people,
We, the people of Canada who support marriage solely as the union of a man and a woman, apologize to the people of the world for harm done through Canada's legalization of homosexual marriage. We are grieved and troubled as we consider the impact this is having in weakening the fundamental institution of marriage in countries and cultures around the world. We understand that because Canada does not impose citizenship or residency requirements in order for same-sex individuals to be "married" here, couples are coming to Canada to seek legal sanction for their homosexual relationships with the intent of returning to their own countries to challenge those countries' legal definition of marriage. We understand that Canada is seen by people around the world as a country in which public policy is developed carefully and judiciously. It would, therefore, be a natural assumption that in legalizing homosexual marriage our government and courts thoroughly considered the implications of this action through proper and extensive study of social sciences and facts. But it is essential that the people of the world understand that this was not the case. Our government and courts only considered adult "rights." Among other things, the impact on children's rights, children's education, parental rights, religious rights, adoption, the economy and family law were never fully considered. Changes were thrust upon us by court actions followed by a vote that did not allow for a free vote of every member of our federal parliament. Our warning to you, the people of the world, is to learn from our mistakes and avoid repeating them in your own countries.

Forewarned should be forearmed. To date, the following Canadian groups have endorsed the Apology

  • REAL Women of Alberta
  • British Columbia Parents and Teachers for Life
  • Sault Ste. Marie - CFAC
  • REAL Women of Canada
  • United Families Canada
  • United Mothers, Fathers & Friends
  • Christian Heritage Party of Canada
  • Third Watch Ministries
  • Father's Resting Place
  • Dawn Stefanowicz - Author
  • MY Canada Association
  • Canada Family Action Coalition

Excuse me; But Grant Hill who is a former MP for the Conservative party do not speak for all Canadians. There are a whole lot of people here in Canada, the majority, I might add, who believe in equal rights. It seems that these people are fighting this issus of same-sex marrige a lot harder than they did on illegalizing abortion. Yes, and after these "Christians" whittle away our Equal Rights, they are going to lobby to have other rights done away with according to their perverted "Christian" point of view!  Note; The "we" is a small band of like-minded troglodytes that are in the minority. Maby these Christians ought to just pack up and move to Saudi Arabia where there are no equal rights.

Is Canada turning a blind eye to Torture?

It is disturbing to find out through our local news media that our Government who represents a gentle and respectful, civilized people is turning a blind eye to the torture that is going on in Afghanistan by local government authorities. While our government here in Canada defends its policy of handing over suspected Afghan detainees to local Afghanistan authorities, Canadians are hearing repugnant news that those people are being abused, tortured and in some cases killed in order to obtain information from those people who are suspected and being accused, without any kind of proof of having any involvement with Afghan terrorist groups. While the Afghanistan people who are being detained and handed over to local Afghanistan authorities, are not blaming our Canadian soldiers for doing their job, because they were only following the rules of engagement our Canadain Government had accepted. Reports published by the news media indicated that our Canadian government officials, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor knew about what was going on in the Afghanistan prisons. The Prime Minister rejected any suggestions that his government had intentionally tried to bury such scandalous reports under the carpet. They were aware that prisoners held by Afghan security forces faced the possibility of abuse and torture and even execution. According to a CTV news staff report, Canada has reached an agreement with Afghanistan officials to check on the status of detainees. Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor said on Wednesday, in the House of Commons, after intense questioning by the foreign affairs committee that Canadian officials have struck a deal with the governor of Kandahar which will let Canadian officials visit Afghan detainees who had been handed over by Canadian troops.

By, April 26 / 2007 Canadains are learning that conflicting statements are now being revealed about Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor announcement that a deal had been struck with Afghan intelligence to get access to prisoners to investigate allegations of torture. This revelation arose during a hot session in the House of Commons during question period. Members of the opposition once again called for O'Connor's resignation after they had learned there was no "new" agreement as announced by the defence minister. Prime Minister Stephen Harper had confirmed during question period that officials had yet to draft the aforementioned agreement. The government expects to "formalize" a deal soon. This kind of revelation will no doubt make it impossible for Canadians to have any kind of trust in our present federal government. Given this revelation about Government officials lying to people, maby Canadians should demand that we pull all our Canadian troops not only from Afghanistan proper, but also from the whole conflict in the middle east. There is no point to go on in this endever if people can no longer trust their Government. Personally, I hope this was simply a matter of some sort of communication mix-up and that our Government will investagate and proceed to make an agreement with the Afghanistan Government, rather than just the governor of Kandahar. After all, anyone can move the detainees from Kandahar to another part of Afghanistan where the detainees can be abused, tortured or killed out of sight from Canadian troops. Hopefully, this forthcoming document will state that no Afghan detainees which are to be handed over will be abused, tortured or killed. That the people will be treated in a humane manner which will meet the approval of Canadians. As Canadians, whom we consider to be a gentle, kind, respectful, civilized people, we should not have anything to do with a country or a people who indulg in such barbaric behavior and practices. No human being should be mis-treated, abused, tortured or killed in order to obtain information. No matter how justifiable our cause may be for us to be involved in Afghanistan. As a concerned Canadian, I would not support any cause which involves itself with such repugnant, barbaric, uncivilized behavior.

Convicted fraud artist found managing job agency

According to Whistleblower, Kathy Tomlinson, of CTV News

CTV News discovered Michael Koval from CareerCorp is the same Roman (Ron) Michael Koval who was jailed six years ago for one of the biggest frauds in Canadian history. Koval and his wife Loren stole close to $100 million from corporate investors, pretending they were using the money for medical equipment. After their fraud was exposed, the couple's Toronto business, the King's Health Center, collapsed -- and the Kovals fled to the U.S. They later returned to Canada carrying over $1 million in U.S. cash and pleaded guilty to fraud. This man was sentenced to seven years in prison -- but was paroled after serving only 14 months. A little over a year in prison. His time in prison amounted to be nothing more than a slap on the wrist. According to CTV News, who had done some investigating about this con-artist, had found out that The Mississauga, Ont. agency, called Career Corporation Limited, where Koval is allege to be just the branch manager, is really the owner of this fraud scam. People who signed up for the agency's services had paid Koval a one year fee of $1325.00, and had not found a single prospective employer, nor had they received a single job interview through this bogus agency. When people like Mozhdeh Soltan Mohammadi who complained and threatened to sue this shyster, Roman (Ron) Michael Koval, Koval told them that would get them nowhere -- because they were immigrants. 'Go ahead and do it. I was born here. I don't mind. You can go ahead and do whatever you want you can't do anything to me,'" To a parasite or scum like this shyster, Michael Koval, who's life ambition is to fleece people of their money, and is currently on parole, will have little effect upon his character. One of the condition of his parole is that he is "not to participate in any employment in which (he) would have any financial responsibilities." Well, it is plain to see that he is clearly breaking his parole condition according to this bit of news. I hope someone within the Justice system will investigate this Roman (Ron) Michael Kova affair and get a scum-bag like this back into prison where he belongs. I hope this time, they throw his cell key away, never to be found.

Looking forward to the days of Summer

May 13th. 2007; Yesterday, I helped my friend Jack Perry mend some fence on a ranch he is looking after. That barb wire can rip your hand apart if you are not careful. I always have a hard time trying to work with gloves on, so I end up shedding those gloves while working on the fence. Cattle were going through some downed part of the fence to the other pasture which was far from the road. So Jack and I strung up a section with elitrical fencing. We hope to finish this fence mending job by tomorrow evening. The owners will be bringing in an additional two hundred head of cattle later this month. During the winter months, Buddy, my dog, had gained weight even though I had cut out giving him table scraps and those little snacks I had given him during the day. Even all that walking and sled pulling had done little to prevent him from bulging out and become overweight. He can not really run all out while on a leash. So last week I bought an old bike and now I run Buddy with it. I can tell right away how much Buddy is out of shape as he runs alongside the bike. So I have to take it easy on him for the next little while until he can build up his leg muscles and loose some weight. This morning I had watched some programes on CTV. I also watched those Christian ministry programs, and observed the lies those priests and preachers were spewing out of their mouth. I had enough of that and decided instead to watch a couple of movies I had rented out. One movie I saw, which was more like a documentary than a movie, was about Emmett Louis Till, who was an African American boy, a Negro, who had lived during the early 1940s-50s in the southern parts of the USA, during the racist, Apartied era, in which the majority of "Christians", due to their pre-existing perverted bigotry, had demonized the Negro people and had considered Negro people to be less than human beings within the predominantly Christian nation and Christian culture. Instead of preaching against the evils of slavery and helping bring an end to that damnable institution, Christian priests and preachers would declare that it was their "god's will" that people be kept in chains, that white men should own black people. No doubt the Christian slave masters listen to this kind of perverted pious preaching coming from their priests and preachers in support of their point of view. While reflecting on that, I could not help reflect upon the present situation whereby Christians have shifted their focus and attack upon homosexual people. and are demonizing them as they had done with the negro people. Using the same kind of tactics like quoting selected verses from their perverted Christian Bible and embellish it, as is their common practice in the defense of slavery. After having watched this documentary about Emmett Louis Till, I find it inconceivably how any African American would ever want to buy into that man-made perverted Christian religion after the way these people were treated by Christians, be it in the USA or in South Africa. But then again, people do some of the most strangest or stupidest things in life, and I guess this happens to be just one of them. Anyway, that's life and people are entitled to make their blunders in life even though it may make very little sense to me. Looking on the brighter side of life, I am looking forward to the warm days of summer where Buddy and I can get back to canoeing on Lake Temiskaming. This summer, I hope to do some canoeing along the shoreline between Haileybury and Temiskaming. To do a bit of camping and exploring along the way. It will do Buddy a lot of good to get out and run around, to really stretch his legs and roam without having a leash tied on him. The only thing I dislike about summer are the mosquitoes and other biting, blood-sucking insects when going into the wilderness. Personally, I would not mind it at all if those mosquitoes and other blood-sucking insects would become extinct. I am quite certin I am not the only person who feels that way about those pesky blood-sucking mosquitoes and other insects.

Those pesky blood-sucking black flies are out there!

May 17th. 2007; Jack, and I have finally mended the fence today. I am glad to have helped Jack get out of a sticky, pressing situation. Tomorrow, the hundred heard of cattle will be grazing on that pasture. Those pesky blood-sucking black flies were having a feast on my flesh today, biting me to no end. These pesky black flies got into my ears, eyes and right across my forehead. I have quite a lot their insect bites there. My face and hands feel like it had been used as a pin cushion! We had not taken any insect repellent with us, and we had suffered the consequence for that little blunder. I am glad that this fence mending is finally over. Soon, I will get the canoe and the little outboard motor ready for the summer season and hope to do a bit of exploring between Haileybury and Ville Marie. When I had first come up this way, it had been during the night when the lake was calm, though I could not see what the shoreline was like. I had been bogged down for three days just south of Ville Marie when the northeasterly wind had finally died down late in the evening. I had wanted to make some headway after being stuck for three days with strong headwinds. I will also check over the canoe cart which I use to tow the canoe to the boat launch ramp. I do not mind towing the canoe on level ground, its having to tow the canoe with its load of camping gear uphill that is the killer. It takes all the enjoyment out from those canoe excursions. I am hoping to acquire a used lawn tractor so that I can use it to tow the canoe with its camping gear, instead of me having to tow it by hand to the boat lunching ramp. Buddy is not much help in this. He don't hesitate to want to pull along with me on level ground, but as soon as we get to a hill, he will hold back and follow right beside or even a little behind me, letting me do all the pulling uphill. Smart guy! I really need to get something that will help me tow the canoe around for it is getting a bit too hard for me to tow it by hand now.

New First Nations land claims policies coming soon

May.20 2007; Jim Prentice was the co-commissioner of the ICC in 2001, and at that time he advocated for reforms that would give the body full independent powers to resolve grievances with binding decisions. Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who was then opposition leader, also outlined a similar plan. Now that Jim Prentice is the Indian Affairs Minister to the present government headed by Stephen Harper, Jim Prentice claims to have a plan which will put a significant dent on the massive backlog of unresolved aboriginal First Nations land claims that are still pending to be resolved. Prentice plans to announce a policy within the next few weeks. Now he says that he is waiting for the Ipperwash inquiry to be compleated and its findings to come forward, which is expected on June 1st, 2007. From its findings, it will set out the new policies for dealing with the current 800 unresolved First Nations land claims the Canadain government have yet to deal with. That do not include all of the other land claims and native issues which are outstanding and goes as far back as the 15th century which had been ignored by the Crown. Prentice's comments on CTV's Question Period, comes amid warnings from some First Nations activists groups who claim that this summer will be filled with protests that are sure to include rail and road blockades. "The frustration has been gradually building about those unresolved land claims, and I have said the situation is unacceptable and I intend to deal with it," Prentice said. The Globe and Mail this week cited sources that said Prentice's plan will give the Indian Affairs Commission independent power to rule on those unresolved land claims. This outstanding issue about resolving many of the First Nations people land claims isn't new, and such a change has been demanded for more than a couple of centuries by the first Nations people. A recent Senate report cited by The Globe & Mail suggested this historic change by the Harper Government could dramatically speed up dispute resolution between the Canadian Government and the aboriginal First Nations native people and their communities. Prentice suggested such reforms are a realistic possibility. "No decision has yet been made. It still requires a discussion. It's one of the things that is on the table," he told Question Period co-host Jane Taber. Prentice said "The government currently resolves only about eight land claims disputes per year. At that rate it would take a century or more to resolve all the claims which are currently on the government's books." He also said that "It is an unacceptable timeline and the system requires a serious overhaul in order to speed up the process." All this talk is well and good, but it is also important to come up with a system which will recondnize the legitimacy of all native people, those First Nations native people who are not living on reservations and those that are. The main complaint by the First Nations people has always been that the Government of Canada acts as the defendant, the jury and uses its own bias research body to resolve these outstanding land claims which is in a conflicting role to settle these disputes. Under the current system, the ICC can investigate allegations of treaty violations and make recommendations about resolving disputes, but the government makes the final decision on whether it is at fault and whether disputes should be resolved. This is like asking the thief to decide whether it had commited a crime or not. Looking back upon the history of Canada, I can not help reflect upon our present situation that all this problem about aboriginal First Nations land claims which Canadains now face came about because those Christian people who claimed to have political and spiritual authority. and had come to this land during the 15th to the 18th century, could not abide and act upon truth, honesty and fair minded justice which they claim to uphold in their religion. They had cheated and confiscated (steal) the major portion of the lands from the aboriginal First Nations people. So because of that, we now have this great mess on our hands which needs to be unraveled and resolved. According to the National Grand Chief Guillaume Carle, who represents natives not living on reservations, said his people are desperate and have few options left open to them for making their voices heard under the present system. Chief Guillaume Carle said, "Hopefully the Canadian population doesn't think that this is being too confrontational, because it's the only point that's left to us to be able to show how our people feel." He said that Canadians need to look beyond the protests and try to understand the deep frustration that is driving the native people to take such action, most of which he said is non-violent and not intended to engage local police. "I think what we're trying to say to the Canadian population is please help us," Guillaume said."Our kids are dying, they're uneducated, they're unhealthy and they have no future to look at. I mean, we have been made to depend upon welfare and at the end of the day, that has to stop because there is no pride in it."

Ipperwash inquiry report is released

Thursday, May 31, 2007. The Ipperwash inquiry report is released today which looks into the 1995 shooting death of the slain aboriginal protester Dudley George. Dudley George, 38, was killed by a police sniper's bullet as Ontario Provincial Police moved in on the occupation by unarmed protesters at Ipperwash Provincial Park on the shores of Lake Huron. Dudley George had fought for years for the province to call an inquiry on First Nations land claims and how to settle the more than 1,100 outstanding land claims across Canada. Premier Dalton McGuinty launched the inquiry into the Sept. 6, 1995, clash at Ipperwash only days after his Liberals swept into power in 2003. Commissioner Sidney Linden reviewed the testimony of 139 witnesses heard over 25 months in Forest, Ont., a town not far from the occupation site. One of the key issues the inquiry examined was whether alleged political interference from the then Ontario Premier Mike Harris played a role in the police response to the occupation. Mike Harris, the then acting Premier of Ontario acknowledged during his testimony that he wanted the occupation brought to a quick end, and expressed that sentiment during an informal government meeting held just hours before Dudley George was killed. Charles Harnick, Mike Harris's attorney general at the time of the protest, testified that he heard Harris say at the meeting, "I want the f---king Indians out of the park." Mike Harris vehemently denied making the statement and that political influence played no role in the tragedy. The George family's lawyer, Murray Klippenstein, argued during the inquiry's final submissions that Harris's stated desire for a quick end to the occupation filtered down to police on the scene at Ipperwash which had influenced their actions. In order to better understand what had happened, we need to take a look back into history on how all this came about. In 1942 the federal government expropriates land that had been claimed by the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation people. The land which was expropriated was on the shores of Lake Huron in southwestern Ontario. The federal government built a military base which was called Camp Ipperwash. Ottawa pays the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation bands $50,000 to use the land, with the promise that the land will be returned to them after WWII was over. After the second world war had ended in 1945, the federal government refused to return the land as promised. Instead they continued to use the base as a military training camp. In 1981, the federal government finally pays out an additional $2.5 million for the use of the land and promises to return it when the government no longer need it for military purposes. Instead of giving the land back to the Native people when the base was finally shut down, as was promises, the federal government turned the military base into a Provincial Park which put the land under Provincial Government control. Incidents like this is nothing new to the First Nation People when dealing with the "Crown" and the federal government which represented a "Christian" nation and soceity. It is a sad historical reflection and comentary that all the lying, the deceit and dishonesty, the breaking of treaties was brought on by those "Christian" people who had come upon the shores of the First Nation People. Here is a brief overview on the history on the development of Canada and the aboriginal First Nations land claims which Canadians now face today. During the early British exploration to find opportunities to find new sources of wealth by the British Crown, they had encouraged to establish new British colonies within a continent which would later be divided and become known as the nations of Canada and the USA. After the experience and tragedy of having obliterated the entire Beothuk First Nations people in Newfoundland (1500-1829 CE), and the atrocities which were being committed by their fellow Christians in the USA, the British Crown wanted to avoid the same problems by purchasing lands from the First Nations people in order to establish their new British Colonies across Canada. Treaties were required to be negotiated with the First Nations People in Canada in order to comply with the Royal Proclamation of 1763. This document made it mandatory that all unceded lands were reserved for the First Nations. This reassured that land was to be used for hunting grounds and that no lands were to be purchased or settled without royal approval having first been obtained. In the event that the First Nations wanted to dispose of the unceded land, it would first have to be purchased by the Crown through a public meeting or an assembly of the First Nations people. But this was draining the coffers of the Crown during the expansion of colonies on the mainland of Canada. They then switched their tactics and came up with a new scheme which they now claimed to be holding all the lands for the First Nations people in order to protect them from those land grabing fine Christian Nobles who were establishing these British colonies for their own intrest and that of the Crown. Those same fine Christian Nobles had turned around and sold lands which the Crown did not really own. Various business enterprise had bought large tracts of land and re-sold those divided sections of land to the settlers who were by then coming in droves from Europe and the British Isles to start a new life for themselves. By the way, this kind of land grab tactics used by those representing the Crown was also deviously used by the established Catholic and Protestant Christian churches who were directly involved with the First Nations people. This allowed them to steal land from the First Nation people to build up their own coffers in their drive in the expansion of Christianity. The Government of Canada would later declare that the lands the Crown was holding and protecting for the First Nation people, was now under the Government of Canada with its newly formed Canada Crown Land Act and its Canada Department of Crown Lands. In order for a truly civilized people who believe in truth, honesty and justice, and always wanting to do what is right, present day fair-minded Canadians are now obliged to correct this sad situation which has tainted the legacy of what was meant to be. Present day Canadians are left with the responsibility, the task to correct the injustice which was brought against the First Nation People by those who had created the injustice. This is where we are presently at concerning Jim Prentice who is trying to resolve the long standing grievances between the First Nations people and their land claims with the Government of Canada.
