My mum and her partner Jeffrey have in the past eight years bought a property in France. The house is situated in a part of France known as Brittany; we are close to a town called Guémené Penfao which is in between Nantes and Rennes, the other two towns that are close to us are Redon and Chateaubriant. The coast is only about 1 hour drive away approximately. There are lots of nice places to visit all within half an hour's drive of Guémené. If you take the road as though you where heading for Redon you will come across a signpost for a place called Plessé, at Plessé you will find a lake which is suitable for fishing, boating and swimming with an inland beach. Also near to Redon is a place called le Bois Brassu-56910 Carentoir that has a lovely family tourist attraction called La Ferme du Monde, this is a farm/zoo type of attraction with animals from all over the world. For the family that are not into farms there is a little town near to the last attraction called La Gacilly that is home to the Yves Rocher. But if you want a day out, about three and half hours away is Futuroscope, I suggest setting of early as it is an attraction with lots of queuing to be done but it is well worth it if you have the time. Also another attraction well worth setting off early for is Mont Saint Michael, about one and a half hours away. Most of the towns have nice markets that are held on certain days, Redon's market day is on a Monday, Chateaubriant's market day is on a Wednesday and Guémené Penfao's market day is on a Friday; as with all French markets it is well worth remembering that the market is mainly on in the mornings until about midday.Another nice place we have found to visit is called Puy du Fou, this is all about the Romans, it is advisable to set of early for this attraction and if you can book yourself in a motel near to it as during the evening there is a pagent that does not end until at least 10pm but is well worth watching.
