Spiking the Mohawk
Fan: Your hair will resemble a fan from Japan or something.
I have tried many ways to get my Mohawk to fan correctly and I have found only one way to make it work good...HAIRSPRAY. Go to Wal-Mart and get some Rave 4 hairspray. Take an old spray bottle and fill it with clean water and spray your hair so that it gets wet. Comb the water in. Take a bar of soap and rub it across your wet Mohawk like you were putting on deodorant. Just rub it across a few times. Now lather it up. Try not to let it get on your scalp cause it will itch. After you get the hair lathered up, make sure it isnt too lathered up, take the palms of your hands and pull your hair up into a fan. It will fall down, do NOT worry. just make sure your hair is somewhat sticking up and straight. Now spray a little hairspray on the wet and bubbly Mohawk and blow dry it. Wait around 10 minutes or so to make sure the hair is completely dry. After it has dried you want to take your hands and mess your hair up. The soap and hairspray will make it all sticky and nasty (you want this to happen). After you have gotten the hair all messed up, using your palms again, re-fan your hair. Since your hair is dry and sticky it will stand up better, but you will notice that it is not sticking up as high as it could. Now take the hairspray and, starting with the front, spray a section that is about 3 inches and use your hand to pull it up as far as it can and use your other hand to blow dry it. Do this to your entire head, but you might want to get some hair from the previous section to ensure that it is all even and not gapped. A week or so of practice will get you better at this. The entire process, for the first few trys, will take around 30-40 minutes.
Liberty Spikes: These look like the Statue of Liberty's spikes on her crown.
Hum...I advise to have your Mohawk in a Fan. Having it already spiked makes it easier to keep the Libertys up. Take a chunk of your hair and twist it up into a spike. Make sure that there is no excess hair hang off the side. Now let go and spray it with hairspray and re-twist. Look in the mirror to make sure that the spike looks good, then blow dry it. Slowly move your finger to the tip of the spike while still pulling and twisting it. Let the blow dryer completely dry the spike. If you twisted right and used enough spray the spike should hold up pretty good. Do this to all of the hair on your mohawk. Make sure you have an even amount of space between the spikes. You dont want any gaps bigger than the others. This process should take anywhere from 30 minutes to on hour depending on how long it takes your spikes to hold together. If you have trouble with the spikes splitting at the tips take your hairspray and spray some on the tip of your finger. Put your finger inside the messed up spike and rub the spray in. Grab and re-twist the spike and blow dry it. Look at my profile for some pictures of what Liberty Spikes should look like. *I would advise you to keep these in for a few days since they are so hard to put in. Just sleep on your side and dont let your head get wet when you shower. Just kinda touch them up in the morning with a little bit of gel or something.
