MAKE A SENSE OF IT
General
check
- Your pulse and blood pressure will be taken
as well as a check given to see if you are pale under the conjunctiva.
- Examination of the heart, lungs and breast
are also routine.
- Pelvic examination and pelvic ultrasound are
particularly important.
- Your partner will also be checked for
pre-pregnancy care.
Blood
tests
- Blood tests specific for
pregnancy include:
* Haemoglobin to exclude anaemia.
* Glucose to exclude diabetes.
* Blood group to detect incompatibility.
* VDRL to exclude venereal disease.
* HIV
* Hepatitis to detect the illness.
* Rubella antibodies to detect protection levels.
* Urine to detect infections.
