" Time Dimensions"

The name's the game

I remember quite clearly the first day
I sank a glass in the old Tramway.
Than it was Hanaysee's place.
Later, there was a time I couldn't show my face
And I became one of Delia McNamara's banned.
Than the cyclone stripped her bare-
The pub, not Delia! We didn't care,
Just drank out of the fresh air.
But the gas bomb scared us.
Fireballed the walls.
Of course it was the Cape York then.
Funny thing a name.
The pub just stays the same
I wonder what they'll dream up next,
When the yuppie shopping mall moves in?
No more railman and docker.
Perhaps they'll call it David Jones's Locker?.
By Victor Barker.
