WHO IS BEACON'S BARD?

THE MEANING OF THE NAME

Welcome to my living room.

Here, you will find many of my poems, both old and new. When I started building this site, I first uploaded some of my newer poetry then I went back into my archives as far as a year ago and picked out the best of some older poems. Actually, before I got done building this site, I went back 2 years and uploaded some even older ones, and then I dug really deep into my filing cabinet and found one I wrote back in 1992. I had just started getting into writing poetry back then. I was 17, when I wrote "The Shadows of the Day," the oldest poem on this site. Recently, I have added a few more newer poems, and plan to add even more in the future. Come back often to see what I add next. I typically write poetry that glorifies my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ or addresses some social issue from a Christian standpoint, but every so often I write something for and/or about one of the many friends God has blessed me with. So, if you are one of those special people in my life, read my poetry at your own risk, you may find yourself in there somewhere.

If you find one of my poems that really moves you and you want to borrow it feel free to email me at beaconzbard@ilovejesus.net with the poem title, and a brief description of the use for which you intend for said poem. Chances are, I will be more than happy to let you use it. This site is not about an ego trip, but it is about sharing the love of Jesus with you, the reader. Thank you for taking the time to read my poetry, God bless you.

Sincerly His,

Beacon's Bard.

A CANDLE IN THE SKY©
By T. W. Smith

The night is dark, too dark
for comfort, and the waves are high.
In the distance, i see a spark
a candle in the sky!

For comfort, among waves that are high,
I search, only to be tossed around.
A candle in the sky?
What have I found?

I search, only to be tossed around.
I search for something, for what, I don’t know.
Wait, what have I found?
What is that beautiful glow?

I search for something, for what, I don’t know?
A lighthouse? A Beacon in the night?
What is that Beautiful glow?
The Glory of The Lord of Light?

A Lighthouse! A Beacon in the Night!
In the distance, I see a spark.
What is that beautiful glow?
Before, the night was dark, too dark.

In the distance, I see a spark.
I now feel safe within.
Before, the night was dark, too dark.
But now, I see Jesus, My friend!

I see Jesus, My friend.
Before the night was dark, too dark.
But now I feel safe within.
Close up, I see more than a mere spark.

Before the night was dark, too dark.
Now, that I can see the glory of the Lord.
In the distance, It seemed like a mere spark.
Closeup, It’s . . . well to describe it, there’s no word.
