Kamui Shiro is a very special sixteen-year-old. Born of Toru Magami, he is the one who the world literally revolves around. He is the one who will decide the fate of mankind.
His name, Kamui, can mean one of two things: 'He who has the authority of God' or 'He who hunts the power of God'.
In the anime, he is portrayed as a weak young man who has no real comprehension of his momentous task. He drifts from event to event with little will of his own and doesn't seem to care when his nearest and dearest die. This surprised me, as I would have thought that the Kamui would have had a little more backbone than that...it's hard to care about a hero who sits around looking pretty, ne?
But in the Manga, things started to get interesting... For a start, this Kamui knew what was happening, and didn't sit around hoping that whatever it is that will happen will happen without any help from him. No, Kamui Shiro is made of stronger stuff than that. From the very start you know that you are in for something special. He knows that 'Curse-zombies' are there and he does not hesitate to use his powers against them. And what powers they are! And this Kamui also has very little sense of caring for anyone other than himself. He warns Kotori away from him, showing very little emotion to her despite her obvious wish to be with him, and ignores both her and her brother Fuma when they try to make contact with him.
