MY POEMS
These are two of my own favorite poems. They have been published in two books, "An Anthology of Poems by Young Americans" and "Nature's Echoes." Hope you like them!
The Winds of the Storm
A traumatic day
Was that inevitable day
When he disappeared with the wind.
In a snap he was gone,
Never to be seen again.
Sitting alone in my room,
I was blissfully unaware of the coming hurricane
About to set in on my heart and soul,
Leaving them shattered.
My brother was the one
To bring the fierce hurricane
Into my room,
With the suddenness of a spring shower.
I sat there, struck dumb by the hurricane
That had hit me with a horrible feeling.
I couldn't believe it,
I wouldn't believe it,
But it was true.
My childhood friend was gone.
When no one was my friend, he was.
He had been there,
Loving me all my life.
But he wasn't going to be there anymore.
I couldn't hug him when I was feeling sad,
I couldn't run to him when I was fuming mad,
I couldn't play our special game.
I knew the wind had been coming,
To whisk my friend away.
Here one minute, gone the next,
That was the wind's way.
But now he has gone to a place,
Where food is everywhere
And the wind
Drops off others.
I tried to hold it in, but I couldn't,
Rain water from the hurricane
Flooded onto my pillow
As the hurricane overflowed.
I was never the same from that day forth,
A piece of my heart had broken and shattered.
Ever since, I have had the hurricane inside me,
And heard the wind rustling in the trees.
The Water in Serenity
Serenity is a feeling
Made for a cool metallic blue,
It is cold like glaciers in the Arctic
And it sounds like swimming under a waterfall.
Tasting like ice cubes made from blueberry juice
Serenity smells like the air after a misty rain.
As pacific blue water drifts slowly past your eyes,
Feel the soft, ocean blue silk falling through your hands.
Serenity moves like a horse at a smooth, graceful canter
As it splashes happily in the sea.
Flowing and swirling like a twisted river
Just freed from ice,
Serenity is azure blue water in its many forms.
