<XMP><BODY></xmp> New Barrel for the AR7


        The AR-7 rifles should have available a longer, heavier barrel with a forend. This would allow the AR-7 to be used as an all round hunting weapon as well as a survival gun. The longer barrel would also allow the use of "Stinger" rounds which achieve their high velocity by means of a slow burning powder.
        The front sight of this barrel would be adjustable so that barrels can be changed without re-zeroing the receiver sight. Alternately, the AR-7 could be modified so the receiver sight is removed and both sights are mounted on the barrel. This could be a long eye relief scope, but a survival arm should also have iron sights. These will probably be square post and notch open sights, with a rear blade that can be folded down when not being used.
