Butterfly Goddess
(regeneration)
< Previous----Next>
In the Minoan-Mycenaean culture the goddess often came as an epiphany in the
shape of a butterfly. Here, as the Goddess of Regeneration, she has a human
head and the wings of an eyed butterfly. As she lands on a flower, she actually
becomes part of the flower, and the petals of the flower form her breasts.
Her delicate body resembles that of a fairy. Made from glazed red earthenware
clay, the back of this limited edition piece displays the artist's signature
stamp and the LQP chop mark, 1 3/4" high.
