A taste of autumn

an autumn mist slips inside
breathe the ashes of a cold grey sky
a taste of rain rides on the night
and I'll be waiting by the firelight

a whisper stirs the golden leaves
and like a silken thread it weaves
to lace our lives into the dream
October eyes sing sweet serene

and shadows fade when starlight gleams
wrapped warm inside the strongest wings
through winter storms our love shined through
I am the one who waits for you

hear me calling from across the miles
a wish from the eyes of a lovestruck child
take my hand and walk with me
a dream alive for the heart that believes

in the bluest of eyes and your sweet skin so pale
the deep sleeping princess in a lost fairytale
awaken the maiden with a kiss from afar
your phantom prince waits with a wish on a star
