Distant twilight finds me dreaming
sultry Southern summer screaming
silent prayers kissed by
angels wings
through the years she stopped believing
all the fairy tales of feelings
looking for the fire
love will bring
in a verse her wish is spoken
twisting tears her heart is broken
like a candle in an empty room
she burns alone
in her poetry I feel such pain
and in her tears I taste her
Southern rain
when the starlight seeks to blind you
in a dream my love will find you
all those lonely roads will
somehow lead you home
far away the voice is calling
find you when the leaves are falling
warm inside the magic
of the flame
follow me into tomorrow
swept away from empty sorrow
in your kiss I taste that
sad Southern rain
