Making a Graph Paper Background
I had someone ask me how I made the graph paper background I used on one of my web sets. Here is how I do it.
Step 1: Open a new image size 100w x 100 h.
Step 2: Using your flood fill bucket  and in the tool options choose solid in the fill style, and fill the image with white. You will have an image like this:

Step 3: Choose a light blue color for the next step. This is the one I used.

Step 4: Now click on your line tool   with the following settings:

Step 5: Draw lines horizontally and vertically at 10, 20 & 30 pixels as shown:

Step 6: DOUBLE CLICK on the selection tool  and set the following settings. Click OK.

Your image will look like this now:

Step 7: Go to Images>Crop to Selection as shown:

Your image will look like this:

Save the image as "grid.psp.

Making the background:
Step 8: Open another new image 1200w x 100h and flood fill with white (solid) as you did the first one above.
Step 9: Add a layer to the second image (Layers>New Raster Layer), and name it "grid".
Step 10: Click on the flood fill tool  and choose pattern in the Tool Options palette, and choose grid from the list as shown.

Step 11: Now flood fill your background image with the grid pattern.
Your image should look like this:

Step 12: On the grid layer in the layer palette, adjust the opacity to around 40 as shown. Note: you can vary the opacity if you wish.

Your image should look like this now:

Note: You can experiment by using different background and grid line colors for various effect.
You can apply a faded effect by using the selection tool  and clicking on the grid layer (make sure and click on the grid lines) and flood filling the grid lines with a linear gradient fill set at Foreground-Background, and angle set at 90.
Click here to see one that I have done using black and gold.

If you have any questions about the instructions, Please let me know and I will try to answer them.
