Nobody really knows if there was a Saint Valentine. But one legend says that he was a priest who worked in Rome. When the Emperor decided that single men made better soldiers than married men, he stopped young men from marrying. Valentine protested and was sent to prison. There he fell in love with a young girl, probably the jailor`s daughter. Before his death, Valentine sent the girl a letter and signed it "From your Valentine".

Today we use this expression in Valentine cards.
