The Tale Of Bowie

Bowie was a rescue. He was a stowaway on a ocean-steamer which came from
Bonaire. He had survived a trip of two months without any food. He was
placed in the zoo for two months after which he came to me. Bowie was
just a juvenile. Whilst the zoo said we would get a ferocious big iguana.
Bowie immediately stole my heart. He was a sweet but skinny ig.
When he came to live with us he was dehydrated and starving because of the fact that his snout was stuck together because of a little wound on his mouth and nose.
We re-hydrated him successfully with a syringe and tried to get him to
accept baby food by syringe. After two weeks of fighting Bowie died in the
middle of a dark Sunday night. His digestive system simply gave way because of the
lack of food for so long.
I comfort myself with the fact that Bowie didn't have to spend his last hours in a cold concrete enclosure with no one who loved him.
I still miss him and telling this story still brings tears to my eyes.
I honor little Bowie.
The rescue who was beyond rescuing

Love,
Esther
