  "Do It Yourself"

       "Do It Yourself"    Here's what it says;

Have you ever read one of those "How To..." books?    Whatever your interests, chances are there's some How-to-Books that cover it.

The Do-it-Yourself movement has even brought us the hilarious "Home Improvement" sitcom, where Tim Taylor continually bungles (and grunts) his way through lots of home remodeling repairs.

Many of us have a "Do-it-Yourself" mindset about everything in life.     As a young man at age 17, I became interested in God.     In comparing the world's major religions, I saw a common thread - the 10 Commandments (or most of them, though in different words) appeared in them all.     I determined to live my life by them.     But after a disappointing week of failures, I realized that this was, for me at least, impossible!     I asked myself why God would list these rules for life, when there was no way I could live up to them.

In reading my Bible, I soon learned the answer. Like many people, I wrongly believed that if I tried hard enough, or did all the right things, I could be good enough, or acceptable to God.     I thought that if there was more good than bad in my life, it would tip the scales in my favor, and then God would have to take me to Heaven.    But the Bible does NOT say this!
It's an "all-or-nothing" deal.

"For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it"(James 2:10) and "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", (Romans 3:23).

So where does this leave us?    Thankfully, God has made a way for each of us to pass our final test.     But we must first humble ourselves, putting our faith and trust in God, in HIS plan, in HIS hands - It's the ONLY way!

Jesus said, "Whoever believes in Me, though he dies, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die."    He then asked; "Do you believe this?", (John 11:25-26).     Our response to this all-important question is what will determine our eternal fate when we die.

So what is your response to Jesus' question?    He is making you the best offer ever made!     Will you trust in Him, or in yourself?     Will you trust in His goodness, or in your own?

Where will you spend your Eternity?    God has made a way.     Why not trust Him right now?    Ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and then welcome Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior!    If you do, your name will be forever written in His Book of Life, and a home in Heaven will someday be yours!

"For if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!" (Romans 10:9-10)
