Like many college students, I arrived at college having no firm plans about what I wanted to study. I also knew that I would enjoy teaching at the college level. After gaining some research experience with two cognitive psychologists and taking courses in social psychology, I found that my interests were divided between these two areas. When it became time to apply to graduate school, I applied to an equal number of graduate programs in experimental social psychology and experimental cognitive psychology. As it turned out, cognitive psychology won when the University of California at Santa Barbara offered me a position in their program. |
