There will be lots of drawing and chances to be creative. There will be fun characters to guide you round the activities and a thirty foot millipede to keep hold of on your way round . Start at Lewisham library or the new Docklands Light Rail station and you can follow the new Lewisham town centre trail round the town centre and through all of the activities. The conference will give London maths HOD's a chance to meet colleagues from around the capital and discuss the key issues facing the teaching of maths in secondary schools. There will be sessions on curriculum issues including the impact of the national numeracy strategy, management issues in a school maths department and other topical issues.
STEIM enabled a selection of pioneers to develop highly personal instruments. Many of these instruments formed the basis for a collection of interface concepts and techniques which STEIM is now making available to young creative artists in the music and multimedia sector. STEIM is a service organization which actually functions as a fund and a research and development centre aimed at meeting the requirements of project applicants. Over the years STEIM has developed a physical philosophy'. This is an artistic technological movement based on the principle that the materialization of ideas in the form of physical instruments to be played by individual musicians is the most effective form of (artistic) communication.
