Now stability and certainty has been injected into the station by SABC's decision to commercialise it. Now 'The Station With A Mind Of Its Own' is well and truly back in business. Not long ago the sounds of exiled musicians such as Hugh Masekela, Caiphus Semenya and Miriam Makeba were banned in South Africa. Radio BOP, with a totally different broadcasting philosophy, became a breeding ground for some of today's top DJs. The station's mix has now moved away from the strong American influence and concentrates on reflecting topical South African issues. |
