When I didn't know where to turn
I turned to your voice
You led me in the right direction
Saved me from making another bad choice
your songs spoke to my soul
as if you were speaking to just me
when the door was locked to my heart

When I wouldn't open up to anyone
even those I trusted most
They would stab my heart
I was left alone struggling at the coast.
No one thought I would make it far in life
No one really believed in me
Because of what you taught me
I was going to succeed!
Before I even saw your face
I knew you always wore a smile
That gave me the strength
to move the extra mile
Listening to you sing
Gave me inspiration I longed for
Gave me hope, faith and love I needed
To live my life forever more.
When I met you for the first time
The hug that I received-
The love that you showed me
was more of a friendship squeeze.
We shared a bond that I never thought existed.
it was a magic moment for me-
I was no longer hiding under a rock-
You let me be free!
You studied my eyes
looked deep within my heart
As if you were searching my body
For a lost being; the lost part.
Tears started dripping down my face
you held my hand and started to say
with the sweetness in your voice
"Baby doll, its really ok."
I was a sick person
Physically and emotionally drained
I don't know how you did it....
You took away all my pain.
you don't see yourself as anyone special
you don't understand what it is we see
but Jo Dee your my guardian angel
watching down to comfort me.
you are unique, determined and confident
i see beyond the makeup and hair
i look deep into your heart and soul
the real Jo Dee Messina lives in there.

Obviously, this poem was written about my idol, my hero, my inspiration, my Jo Dee Messina. Jo Dee Messina has always been there for me, in her music. Her words have touched me so deep inside. Her expierences in life have influenced so many of my writings- she herself is just the rainbow after the rain for me. She is my girl. She is my Jo Dee.
