For my Mother who has believed
in me through so many things
She is my stregnth, my energy
and my best friend. I love you, Muma
There is an angel without wings
That shines brighter then any star.
She holds herself with confidence.
She walks in a room with stride.
She has never won a grammy
or swam the atlantic shore.
She has never wrote a book
or cured any painful illness
She has never been a cover girl
or won a major court battle
Instead....
She sang songs with her little girl
to help her fall asleep after a nightmare.
She swam in the backyard pool
and taught her son how to go underwater.
She sat at the table and taught her kids how to read
Gave them a love for words and expression.
She kissed the scraps on her kids knees
and wiped the tears from their eyes.
She did little make over parties with her daughter
Spending quality time one on one.
She believed and respected what her children said
and defended them whenever others doubted.
Singing to her daughter
didn't win this lady a grammy
Swimming with her son
didn't get her an olympic medal
Reading with her children
didn't win her the pulitzer prize.
Kissing their scraps after a bad fall
didn't win her the medical award.
Doing make overs with her daughter
didn't get her on the cover of Vogue.
Defending her children
didn't put her on the supreme court.
What she has done with her life
Is unexplainable in words
She has become a hero to so many
and an inspiration to us all.
So to this amazing singer
To this breathtaking athlete
To this wonderful writer
and heroic doctor
To this astonishingly beautiful model
and my lawyer of 16 years
I love you...because you are you!

I have the most talented, beautiful, inspiring, unselfish mother in the entire world! I might be bias, but my mom is simply amazing- and I owe her so much. This is a small tribute to the lady that brought me into this world.
