I'll never forget you bud
I sat on the bench watching the elderly walk by
One man stops and tells a story; beginning with a sigh
He starts by explaining how the world used to be
when the elderly were treated with dignity.
I sit and wonder how the elderly do it;
when their kids are to busy to pay a visit.
How do they cope with death so much?
How do they surivive without their lovers touch?
We all think about ourselves so much
That we forget about those lives we touch.
We forget to do the little things for others
like hugging our grandfathers and grandmothers.
The butterfly kisses are memories that last
Things your grandparents will remember from the past.
Little things that you don't care to much about
are the things they can't live ten minutes with out.
I took the old mans wisdom with one hand
and his stregnth with the other-
and held it to my heart
as I went to visit my grandmother.
