Somebodys Little Girl
When I see a battered woman walking down the street
I can't help but think she is somebodys little girl.
Somebodys little girl with memories of christmas morning
Is now walking her bruised body around the naked world.
When i see a little girl murdered on the news at five
They flash her picture of innocence on the sceen
I can't help but put a sweet personality on that child
For she was more then a face, she is somebody's little girl.
When I see an old women walking in the nursing home
As she lives there waiting for nothing short of death.
I find myself staring into her eyes looking for an answer
About her childhood when she was somebodys little girl.
When I see a women waiting on the street corner
Wearing provocative costumes and makeup galore
Selling sex to the first man that comes her way
I wonder what went wrong with somebodys little girl.
When I see a lawyer working her well practiced magic
She is drained in the case with her entire heart and soul.
I just want to put my arms around her frustration and let her drain
That workalcholic is somebody's little girl.
When I see a teacher exhausted from a hard days work
She is trying to make a difference in somebody's life
as hers is only falling apart piece by piece...
This woman is somebody's little girl.
When I walk past a grave stone with these words:
"A daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother..."
My heart is simply drained with sympothy
She was somebodys little girl.
Every women used to be
somebody's little girl...
