Existential Winter

Oh my friend,

I am so sorry to hear that your world has grown black and hopeless. I too grow dark sometimes and maybe I can give you a few ideas on how I avoid falling into that murky abyss. I don’t know if they will work for anyone else but maybe, just maybe they will work for you, fingers-crossed!

The abyss is The Pool Of Tears. Do you remember Alice in Wonderland? She cried when she was big and then when she shrunk, after eating from the wrong side of the mushroom, she found herself drowning in a pool of tears. I believe it is a metaphor: when she was big she was confident, although lost, then she grew small and depressed. She needed to learn how to swim to save herself. Well the black hole isn't bad, it is simply you, same thing. It is a time to reflect, a time to gather your strength for the brilliant time to come.

New Year’s day for me is one of my brightest times of the year, so ripe and full of promise. For you, you say, it is one of the darkest. Good news! Being able to forecast the impending darkest is one of the greatest gifts! Why? Because you can then use a preventative, take a psychic antibiotic.

I get bummed on Christmas. It reminds me of happy times with my now-gone parents. I know I can’t do anything to change that fact. Dead is dead. Plus the rest of my family does the holiday the weekend before the actual date. So the 25th is murder on me.

(Wait. This is a private message for a friend in need, not for public consumption. Perhaps I will share parts of it at a later time. Good-bye.)
