At one end of the gallery space, through several rooms in a vast loft, there is a small self-made shrine tucked into one corner. The hand-colored black & white photographs seem to stand frozen in Plexiglas as a reminder to a time lost, a self-imposed amnesia used as a coping mechanism.
In all 101 photographs in the Amnesia series the viewer is never allowed to see what event brought on the comalike state.
Instead we see the remnants, the parts the artist has salvaged from the wreckage.
In this short exhibit 8 photographs are displayed along with the stack of towels that rested on the floor next to the art in her studio.
The viewer wants to take the towels and dry off the girl, save her fragility, connect her to humanity, tell her "everything will be okay."
Somehow you know she can not hear you.
